  1. Thanks, I was just trying to imagine how USCIS would easily take them out to read the names, dates and locations on the back. Or did you use a clear insert so the backs could be read without taking the photos out of the plastic?

I didn't use the clear ones (as I remember anyway). But we didn't have any problems. They must have just took them out to look at the info on the back, or just pressed the back down to see if they can see through the insert and read the back. It should be ok, I don't think they are too picky about how you present them, as long as some prove you've met within the last 2 years :)

  2. Well, I got impatient and decided to call the NVC tonight (I was going to try to be patient and wait til next week Monday or so). I called at 9:40pm central time, and got right through! I was very surprised that I wasn't put on hold or told to wait ages til someone could talk to me. Our file was sent to London today :) so that's good news..... if you're going to call, try later at night! apparently that's a great time to call! haha

  3. I'd call Monday and every few days after if you want to check on it. It should pass through NVC quickly, however there have been times when things bottleneck there. Be sure and speak to a person, not the automated response, because K1s aren't entered into that.

As far as the 4 month expiration of the petition approval, that's not a huge concern if you're waiting on USCIS, NVC, or the embassy in London to do paperwork. Once London notifies you to submit your forms to them, if you failed to carry on with your response for many many months, then they could consider your case abandoned and use that date like a shelf life date to say you abandoned your case. Even if you don't interview before the 4 month date, it is fine as long as you do your part in a timely manner and the delay is because of waiting on them to make the next move.

Ok! Thanks for the response! I would think it shouldn't take too long for the NVC to get/send the file, but like you said sometimes it gets backed up. Do they send an email saying they've sent your papers off? or is it all by snail mail (or maybe not at all!?)?

  4. So, my fiance and I got our NOA2 on October 29th (though the hard copy didn't appear in my mailbox til November 2nd). On it, it says to contact the NVC after 30 days, and gives the email address and what you should write, etc. Is 30 days the amount of time you should actually wait to see if they've gotten your petition and assigned a number to it and shipped it over to the consulate? I feel like since the NOA2 is only good for 4 months that waiting a whole month to make sure they've gotten it and passed it along is a really long time. Any thoughts? :)

  5. DS230 only send part one if you are a K1 (that's the first two pages only). Do not sign. One copy.

    DS156 Sign It. Two copies.

DS156K One Copy. Do Not sign. This form is an oath.

DS157 Two Copies. Do Not sign.

DS2001 Do sign it. One copy. It is a form showing readiness for interview (i.e that you have all the necessary documentation ready)

    Good luck!!

How come you don't have to sign these documents if it says "Signature and date" on the bottom of it (for example, page 2 of the DS- 230 part I) My fiance will be having to fill out these forms soon, so I was just curious as to why. thanks!

  6. OK, but I have to say that the movie lacks impact when the foreign beneficiary is from a VWP country and can come visit anytime they want, and vice versa.

Why not from a country whose good citizens are treated like reptiles when they apply for a tourist visa to the USA? Or one where you are guaranteed a year of AP on top of everything else? I mean, c'mon, UK? It is hardly even a foreign country, relatively speaking

Just because it's about an American/UK couple doesn't mean they don't go through hardships that everyone else does... we still have to say good bye at the airports just like everyone else :(

This looks like a really good movie! I wish I could see it!

  7. Because adjudicators do not just work on one type of visa petition at CSC.They are rotated to work on other petitions that are lagging in time, then are switched again. It's a never ending process of rotations and playing catch up.

They work on Fridays and also some adjudicators take case files home and process from there. Then they go back to the office and update the files.

I posted that like an hour before we got our NOA2 text/ notice of approval! LOL! I'm so relieved and SO happy!! But was very very surprised to get that message on a Saturday!! So, I guess they do work whenever they want to! :)

  8. YEP we hear ya! A lot of people applied in July and have received no word about the NOA2, just have to keep hopeful!

I know that "antsy" feeling, its driving me nuts but just gotta stay focussed and think the wait if worth it!

I know, right? It's driving me nuts too! It will so be worth it in the end! Can't wait to have him here to cuddle up with at night, especially with winter on its way! :luv:
