Please keep in mind that this is a major event in life. If you treat it like a fast-food dinner, then you are making a strong statement to its value in you life as well as the value of your beloved. I realize that civil ceremonies are popularly discussed here on VJ because of their ease, the tradition in the US is that if you have a quickie civil ceremony it is because there is something shameful about it--one of them is divorced, an unplanned pregnancy, an affair, or something that traditionally was not acceptable in society OR that you are military and there is a war.
We don't have the money or the time to plan a formal wedding, but you can bet your butt that I won't insult my spouse with a low-class legal "ceremony" that has nothing memorable about it whatsoever. (We'll be spending under 1000$ easy.) Low budget does not ever have to equal low-class.
Perhaps it would be good to put a minimum price to be the cost of flying over to see that person. (In Texas, the license is $72.00. Prices for officiant in Austin: Wedding officiants in Austin)
Do something special. Really, it doesn't take that much effort. If you are too lazy to come up with your own idea, copy off someone on youtube or the internet.

Don't book her ticket until after she has her visa in hand.
Also, as a beneficiary, I find telling her not to bring her "everything" is a bit insensitive. I know you mean it in a joking way but still, she's traveling half way around the world to be with you. She should bring her kitchen sink if she darn well chooses.

God why we are judging people here instead of trying to give them the legal path and direct them of what we know, we are hearing from one side and even he said he is confused so we better not to judge people, not every relationship is meant to be, you can go ahead and consult nearest immigration office they will give you the right path. Good luck

KansasJayhawk ~ that's great advice if he's dealing with fraud, but he hasn't said anything about immigration fraud
Waterski ~ as far as filing for divorce while your wife is in Peru, it can be done. You should consult with a lawyer regarding your state's requirements, but in general, you would just file and have to give her notice. You need to have her served served in a legally binding way that will show the court she received the papers and chose not to answer. When she doesn't show up in court, the case proceeds without her. I would recommend getting an attorney that specializes in international divorce.
Good luck & I'm very sorry to hear it didn't work out

Hi: Is there a difference between leave and vacation at his job? At my job, leave usually means medical leave, disability leave, maternity leave, paternity leave, etc. Vacation is a separate type of being away from work. His job says he was on leave, he says he was not on "vacation", so maybe in his mind he does not think he is lying to you about that. This may be semantics and much to about nothing with what I am saying. Just saying, there may be something up at his job, they are telling you he is on leave, for all of January it appears, is that normal for his job to take leave for a month? There may be the possibility that there is something happening with his job that he does not want to tell you about. His job could be telling you he is on leave and not really telling you what is up, the fact that the job would discuss his work situation with you would cause me not to trust the associate at his job. If he was having an affair, you would think he would come up with a better lie, or he is just a bad liar and good thing you caught this red flag now. Has he taken this kind of leave before, if he does have a mistress, you may have observed some hints of this behavior before if you all have been together for a while? Just a thought, I do not know your situation or what you are going through. Orando

I'm sorry you're going through a hard time. it's hard to solve issues through a phone.
I don't know how you normally communicate. If it's normal within your relationship that he isn't answering his phone like now, then be careful putting too much into that combines with the rest. If it's out of the ordinary, that's about the time I'd start reacting regardless of the situation. Some guys are not great with talking about being burnt out and drained. I'm far from defending your husband but I think the last thing you need is someone telling you how the situation is when we don't know your unique relationship other than what you've told.
Being and staying loyal is that one feature I admire most in people, and what made my heart and still continues to make my heart want to be with my husband. The minute he stops being honest is the minute he chose to push me away. I understand that your husband might need some time(guy time whatever it's called) but had it been my husband, it would be stretching the truth to say one thing and later on changing the story. That's to me hurting someone on purpose and no-one deserves that in a marriage.
It's easy for me to say(and echo other members) that you have enough time to pull the affidavit of support when it's right now you need answers but you're not going to get the answers you need by just putting a stop to the petition, at least not right now. He probably already knows something is off by you asking to speak to his co-worker. Take some time to calm down. If possible, then skype with him to get reactions other than just on a phone if that's too hard on you.

After some research here, you can use the PO box on the i-129f and the physical address on the G325a. Then attach a supplement to the petition explaining the two.

All I have found on the subject is this
    located on http://www.visajourney.com/content/assembly
"Note 17: The address block on the forms is the data field captured for all of our mailings. Consistent with the limitations on the number of characters per line (a maximum of 32) and the total numbers of lines (4) in that field, whatever is in the block will become the mailing address used by the system. The data in these fields is entered exactly as indicated on the forms. Please include internal routing symbols in the address block, especially for large organizations. It is better to abbreviate the name of the organization and have space for the routing codes than to fully spell out the name and have notices sit in the organization's mailroom."
I think I'll just have to call the USCIS...

Sometimes we get so caught up in our own little world, we sort of need reminding of what the service centers go through. I found this post by HuskyKeive that states (as of 2007) what the process was for processing an application, and thought I would share it. Of course, I was seeking something to understand what happens when we send petitions to this blackhole called a service center and waith for 6-8 months for a reply..
Seems to me that perhaps (given how some people have waited nearly 8 months) the adjudicator actually need an aging report so that they can work on RFE's first thing, and clear those off. *shrugs* just a thought..
Anyway, here's the post, and to HuskyKiev.. if you're still around, thank you for your frank and honest answers!

    Congrats.
In short, your petition will be sent to NVC ( national visa center), then a case number will be assigned to your visa application and your application will be sent to the US Embassy in the UK.
You will receive the so-called packet 3 which tells you what documents you need to gather. You also have to go to medical exam. When you have gathered all the required documents, you call the US embassy and schedule an appointment for interview.
Right now it's a good time to start gathering documents, affidavit of support and financial documents etc
Someone has posted a very good guide for UK somewhere, I can't find it but maybe some other people from UK will help you with that.
p.s. please spend 5 minutes to create/update your timeline, it will help a lot of other people in the forum. Thanks

Liked the Gun's and Roses Video. But, the other is pure politics.
Do you have any idea what position Obama held in office before being in office. Immigration! It's a ploy because America is a melting pot of different cultures and status.
I think Obama is worried but I see no other better opponent. There all Politics. Voting for a President is like spin the bottle. You never know who your going to Kiss....

A friend had sent me email to view her profile on MySpace. I was going through a divorce, and didn't really have anything else to do in the evenings once the kids went to sleep. I had to sign up to view her profile, and ended up fixing up my own profile page, and talking to people. A romantic relationship was the LAST thing on my mind! Honestly, most of the men I met were perverts, but there was this nice guy with really bad English. I figured it was safe enough - I mean, come on - he was the whole way in Morocco. I'd never even meet him in person.
Our five year wedding anniversary is coming up in a few weeks.

P.S. I knew I was in trouble one night when I went to a friend's party and realized I couldn't stop wondering if he'd still be online when I got home....

display n reacted to Love's JAA in How long to wait before starting K-1 Visa process?
I was wondering if anyone has heard whether there is any approximate minimum acceptable length of relationship and/or number of in-person visits that a couple should have before beginning the K-1 Visa process in order to avoid being rejected. I realize there is no hard rule, just wondering if anyone has a sense from experience of what gets approved and what doesn't as far as this goes. I have only been involved with my fiancee for about 4 months now and have visited once for 12 days. I ask because I have spoken with one lawyer who encouraged me to file the petition now, while another suggested waiting until at least the 6 month point. Others have suggested waiting one year and two years. As far as visits goes, I was told that though one visit is required, that from the evaluator's stand point at least two visits are required, but that you could file the petition before the second visit as long as by the time the application is submitted it has happened. My fiancee is a filipina national currently working and residing in Dubai, if that matters. I would like to file as soon as prudently possible.
I appreciate any advice or insight.
    Thanks.

As for what he knows about you, I agree with Betsy that it sounds like he doesn't know enough. My love can tell you the last 5 books I read, what I'm reading now, what movies I enjoy, the last movie I watched, and even what TV series I'm watching now on Netflix (Heroes.. lol). I know that James Clavell and CJ Cherryh are his favorite authors and that he just started reading Clavell's TAIPAN and just finished Shogun. (and the Gates Trilogy by CJ Cherryh befor that lol!) He can tell you I love country music which he hates, and that I hate 70's rock which he loves, but that we both enjoy blues music. He can tell you the history of my cat, and I can tell you his deceased mom's favorite dish. We've talked about family history, geneology, UFO's, ghosts, bigfoot, death, afterlife, various religions, Napolean, JFK Kennedy assassination, Roman and Greek History. He has read me gaelic poems and translated for him, and I've learned to make white pudding and that I love the sweet taste of fried haggis. And that IrnBru is NASTY!
Please don't take this the wrong way but this kind of knowledge is important in a partner. It's this kind of knowledge that builds relationships.

    Greetings everyone,
I am a US citizen and my husband Hamid is a citizen of Morocco. Our case is extremely complicated, and we will soon be approaching the NVC processing stage, but I am very anxious regarding the interview that will be held in CASA. I have read several stories, which makes me nervous. However, our case is a little different as we have lived together in the US for over two years. We have our 1 year old son together. However, because of his overstay and asylum case, I am sure that the CO will be tough with him. I wish everyone the best, and am grateful that many of shared their experiences. However, how can we best prepare for the interview. I know that we must bring tons of evidence of our relationship and being honest.
