  1. Denver is great!!! Plenty of outdoor activities, concerts, shopping, etc. We live in Park Hill which is a great neighborhood and we LOVE it. House prices are high in my opinion, specially if you want to be in a good neighborhood with good schools, but to us its worth every penny. Job market I guess depends on what you want to do..

  2. Adjustment of status takes about 4 months, sometimes less, sometimes more. You should expect to receive a notice within the first few weeks with an appointment to go get your biometrics taken, then a few months later, another notice with a possible interview date or a decision. Some people don't get interviewed at this stage but I believe that most of us do.

You cannot apply for an emergency advanced parole if your only reason is the wedding. That is not an emergency.

  3. Congrats, that was a long wait for you guys! I got the approval email on Thursday 03/13 . It says that it can take up to 30 days but today I got another email saying that they shipped my card yesterday so I assume it should take only a couple of days to get here. So I would say, give it a week from aproval to actually getting it in the mail.

  4. Yes! Congrats!

Just check status and got this: Your Current Case Status for Form CRI89, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED

On March 17, 2014, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Does this mean no interview and 10 year greencard is on the way?

  5. When you apply for ROC, one of the questions asks if you have moved since becoming a LPR, your answer of course wil be yes. Then you wil be asked to provide a list of the addresses where you have lived previously. That said, they should be able to figure out why the mismatch of addresses in your documents. However, I think it is important that you do update your address with your bank... or if you thought you did it already, make sure they in fact did it. A lot of times , depending on the bank, you can just change your address online.

I had a similar situation, I moved right before applying for ROC. So my evidence had few different addresses (my old one, where we were temporarily staying and the one where we were moving shortly after)... I have not gotten approved yet but haven't gotten an RFE either (fingers crossed).

  6. I am in your same situation! I sent my papers in November 2013 and did not send copies of DL because it was not a requirement and because the addresses do not match anyway (Colorado does the same, update address online but not the plastic). We did send a lot of strong evidence (I think) but I am too a little worried that I will get an RFE, its been over 2.5 months and have not gotten anything though (hope I am not speaking too soon) so we will see!. Good luck to both of us, hopefully we won't get picked on for not sending DLs!

  7. Did the OP get sufficient answers to the original questions?

 Thanks everyone for your opinions, I really appreciate it!

Going back to the original question. I agree with some of you that they should not be able to get education in the US because of their unlawful presence, but at the same time I understand that they were brought here as children and this is now their "home" so, I kind of have conflicting thoughts about that.

To get in state tuition in Colorado you have to have lived in the state for at least one consecutive year. And what really bothers me is that, I LEGALLY set foot in the US in July 2011 on a k1 visa, I wanted to start school asap, I figured that the following year (August 2012) I would be considered in-state since that was my 1 year in CO. Well, that did not happen. I could not afford to pay out-of-state and had to wait another 6 months. I also have many friends who are here legally as international students; they have been living in CO for over 3 years and they are not able to get in-state tuition at all. Why? because they are international and apparently because they are not illegal. I'm really not against illegals but this kind of situations make me think about how messed up the system is in some ways.

  8. Hi! I am writing an essay about how some states (including Colorado, where I live) have approved a bill to offer lower tuition (in-state tuition) to illegal immigrants. This means that if you are a citizen or LPR from (let's say) New York and want to study in Colorado, you will have to pay out-of-state tuition, which is about 3 times more as in-state. Do you think is fair? What are your thoughts about it?. I need some opinions for my assignment! Thanks.

  9. Sheesh, I'm alone waiting for my fiance and I spend about $400 a month on groceries for just me. That's 3 meals a day... and for breakfast I usually have just yogurt/fruit/nuts. Where are you guys shopping so cheap?! I didn't think I was doing too bad until I saw these replies :o

400 dlls a month for only 1 person is crazy, unless you eat steak in all of your meals LOL

  10. I agree with Jay-Kay, the longer the better, unless you REALLY want to change your name after marriage in the mex passport, which I think is pointless (at least at the beginning). I got mine for 10 years and I am SO glad I did and that I do not have to worry about it until 2017. Once you are in the US you will have enough worries with AOS, ROC and all that stuff, no need to worry about mex passport for now!
