  1. It's worth calling, just wait a week or so, once your file is at the consulate they will be able to reschedule. I tried calling right after I got my interview date and was given the runaround , told they didn't do that etc, called a week later and rescheduled without problem.

  2. I was able to change my interview for an earlier date because there was one available, it had nothing to do with my circumstances and I was never asked why I wanted to change it. After your date is assigned and your file has arrived at the consulate contact them to request an earlier date, hopefully one will be available. Good luck.

  3. Had my interview this morning and got APPROVED!!!!!

And on top of that I got an email tonight saying that DHL has picked up my passport, hopefully have it in a couple days!!!

Congratulations! I wanted to stick around to see how it went but had to get to work, That was three visajourney approvals in Montreal this morning!

  4. Just got home from the consulate - visa approved!!!!

It was exactly what I expected thanks to the information found on these forums, got to meet a few fellow vjers, I was the 2nd person through so I didn't get to see whether they left as happy as I did but I'm sure they did.

A huge thank you to everyone on this site for you knowledge and generosity, I'll post my review soon, not that I have new information, but now I'm off to work.

  5. mostly beneficiary sending to petitioner but I have from both ways. We got married in Canada. Beneficiary lives in canada but is from Philippines. I sent receipts of trips, receipts of gifts, cards, money tansactions, web cam calls, text messages, receipts of wedding rings, photos of trips together, with fam, and wedding. If thats not enough for them then this process sucks. :(

Question I sent them, I guess called short form of marriage cert. Was i supposed to send the long form? I was kinda looking to see what it could be and that came to mind.

I bet that is it, you need to send the official long form marriage certificate from Canada. You will need this if you don't have it, order one now, or have your wife order it from the registrar of the province you were married in. You should be able to expedite by paying an extra fee.

  6. I'm almost done the CR1 process (fingers crossed) in three weeks I'll get to stay with my husband for the first time instead of just visiting. All the waiting made the past ten months seem like an eternity but now I can't believe how fast things are moving. If all goes well with my interview it will have been about 10 months from noa1 to visa in hand, you might get lucky and be through even quicker. Study the guides, follow Saylin's instructions (she is a godsend to us all) spend as much time as you can together on Skype, and try to find the money to visit (I've found that taking a bus to the US and flying domestically is generally cheaper). We are lucky that we can visit during this process, people from some countries can't. This can only make your relationship stronger. Have faith in that. It will be worth it.

  7. Oh wow.......... I'm so sorry!! Hopefully, you'll be able to get the needed documentation soon and it all solved quickly.

After reading recent posts regarding how tough Montreal is on domicile, we're making sure my daughter's fiance gives her a few more pieces of documentation proving his domicile. He's never lived anywhere else, so I'm confident we'll have enough.

This is starting to get more stressful. My daughter's interview is 8am Tues June 26. Anyone else interviewing then??

I'll be waiting outside the Consulate for her, most likely on pins and needles the whole time

Mines at the same time too, I guess we can all fight for the back of the elevator ;p But honestly I don't care if I'm there all day as long as I leave with a smile on my face.

Gitme, I hope everything gets resolved quickly.

  8. I got my polio as part of my last tetanus shot, ask for TDap specifically. Make sure you have had 2doses of MMR in your lifetime, I had to get another because when I was a kid one was enough. I never had the other two and passed my medical fine, don't think they are required for over 18.

  9. There should be no problem but allowing your husband to enter is the decision of the individual border guard. Bring lots of proof that he intends to return; your NOA1 ( to prove you are doing the immigration the right way) copy of a lease, return ticket, letter from an employer stating he is expected to return. Also make sure the return ticket does not have him overstaying the visitors visa (6 mos I think). Good luck!

  10. Hi everyone, I have been away for awhile, but I finally sent in the papers and now have a received a checklist :-( :crying:

Now I am hoping for some of your help!

It says that I am missing the following:

[x] It appears that there is no proof of current employment (a recently dated job letter or pay stub), or

self-employment status (a recently dated letter on business letterhead or a business license).

[x] The listed income tax documents/IRS statements for the years marked below are missing/incomplete

(if you have lost any of the requested tax information, contact your local IRS office to obtain a copy)

(Only Federal returns (not state or local) are acceptable unless the sponsor's income was earned in Puerto

    Rico.)

    • W-2 forms are missing/incomplete for the year(s):

    [x] 2011 [ ] 2010 [ ] 2009 [ ] 2008.

I KNOW I did not send proof of current employment, but that's because I didn't think I needed to (I'm not even remotely close to making the minimum income so it doesn't matter how much my income is). So...was I still supposed to send it?

Secondly, I did not send my W2 form because I do not have W2 forms. I have an independent job in the US that I do via internet, so in that sense I am self-employed. I also work for a company here in Chile, but for that I don't get W2s...only the 2555 form, for Foreign Income Exemption. I had sent in all my Schedules and the 2555 form to show my tax info for 2011. So what do I do?

Lastly, the instructions say: The checklist below indicates missing or incomplete documents. In order to make corrections you will need to download a new form at www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov. You will need to complete and submit a new form with the changes noted below. Please provide all requested documents.

Does this mean I need to redo my entire I-864? I called the NVC and the lady (very mean lady) told me that I don't need to redo the form, but I am confused because of the above instructions.

    Thanks so much!

My husband and I got a similar checklist, we didn't think we needed to send proof of current income for the same reasons - he didn't make enough and we had a joint sponsor. We sent a letter from one of his clients as well as a paystub from our joint sponsor (they didn't request it but just incase) and a letter explaining why we couldn't provide them with one other thing they had asked for. We did not send in a new I864 and all was accepted no problem.

  11. Thanks guys. Funny thing is the Anjou location is closer to me on the plateau (using public transit) by about 20 min and although the dorval location practically borders the airport it takes the same amount of time (again, with transit) to get from either location to the airport. So I'm booking a flight for Friday afternoon, that gives 4 business days, until I'm forced to rebook my flight and lose the savings, and call my cousin and tell her we won't make her wedding. Fingers crossed it won't come to that.

  12. Question for Saylin or other Montreal CR1ers; where exactly do I pick upy visa from DHL/loomis? Does it have to be dorval? Is there anywhere downtown? Will it take longer if I can and do choose a depot downtown? I'm looking at cheap one way flights to San Diego for the Friday after my Monday interview, I know it's risky but even with the $150 fee to change dates it's still cheaper than buying a ticket the day before flying, and I want to know how much trouble picking up my visa will be I'm on bike or STM.
