sarah86 got a reaction from mounir412 in WOOHOO!!! VISA APPROVED, FINALLY!!
Just wanted to let you guys know that after being in AP since May 21, we were requested to send in his passport on July 22, exactly two months later, sent in the passport about a week later, and just checked the website today and they have issued our visa, WOOHOO!!!!
Such a mixture of emotions, I cant even describe it. Dont loose hope or get utterly upset if you get or were put in AP. Sometimes, as in our case, they dont really have a good reason to put you on AP, they might be backed up with background checks that they didnt get to yours or arent completely finished, or I dont know were ordered not to issue anything that particular day or week, who knows. just DONT LOOSE HOPE!
Good luck to everyone who is still going through this process. We are done with one journey, about to step into the next, this one will be much easier to conquer as we will be together hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder through everything without needing technology to connect us.
I hope you all get great news as soon as possible and get back to life, as I havent really had a life and wont till he gets here
    well, anywho, good luck

sarah86 reacted to Jigar7 in Turkey administrative processing
My fiance (female) from Iran was also interviewed in Ankara for a K1 visa 2 months ago (mid-May) and she got a pink sleep at the end. They took her passport and she had to wait in the hotel for 5 days to find out that they have everything they need and all the documents are complete, but they need additional processing time. US does not have an embassy in Iran so Iranians seeking a visa have to travel to Turkey, Armenia, or UAE to visit the US embassy there. It has been 2 months since the interview and the CEAC website has not updated her status and it just says "Administrative Processing". I have contacted Dept of State but they really dont give out a whole lot of information other than what the website already says. I wish there was a way to get up to date AP status updates. I read about people waiting for their AP for more than a year on this site and I cannot fathom how insensitively these cases are being handled. I am not saying everyone should get a visa. I understand the security issue and they do need to check everyone but at the same time, they have to bear in mind that 99% of legitimate applicants with no security threats and an approximate waiting time would help people like you and me plan their lives ahead. I know nobody listens....I am just venting. I am sure some of you feel the same way.

You do have to send a second one with the documentation that is brought to the interview. It needs to have a date closer to the interview and say something like "I am reaffirming my intent to marry within 90 days"... it's silly, I guess they want to make sure you didn't change your mind during the eternity that it took them to process your case.

guess what? you could leave after the I-130 is approved - you are NOT required to remain in country (the USCitizen) whilst stuff wraps up with the DS-230 and I-864 at the IV Unit in Seoul - you've already met the requirements for residence in Korea.

sarah86 reacted to LeftCoastLady in WHAT TO DO TO GET MARRIED? (GET THE MARRIAGE LICENSE)
Marriage license requirements vary by state and even by county within a state so what I did in Oregon may vary from what's done in New Jersey. Click on the "find a county" link in my signature to find the county website where you're planning to be married in NJ. From there, you'll be able to look up (or call) the department that issues marriage licenses to learn the specifics. Good luck!
Edit: You don't have to take his last name, that's completely up to you. If you want to change it later, you'll just need to follow the state details on changing one's name due to marriage.

I used the schedule here http://www.usemb-ankara.org.tr/consular/english/schedule_iv.html and looked up the numbers here https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw==
I copied the schedule into excel and sorted it by visa types. I have been trying to understand the % of people that get AP.
Here is the AP list for Turkey http://www.usemb-ankara.org.tr/consular/english/immigrant_admin_processing.html

sarah86 reacted to Eurotraveler in Embassy sent Packet with proof of approval
    Hi all,
I am a newbie to all this, so this may be common knowledge, but for others like me who were not in the know, here is a bit of info. After we had our approval, I contacted the embassy in Hungary to see what I needed to do to keep the process moving forward. They said if I sent them proof of approval, they would sent my fiancee the packet, no need to wait for NVC. I sent them a screenshot of our approval from USCIS and just got a confirmation email from them that the packet went out. We got approved on May 15th and they sent it on the 17th. Like I said, this may be common knowledge, but maybe other embassies will do this as well. I just haven't seen this in anything I have read so far during the process....so, sorry if this redundant, but thought I would put it out there anyway. Cheers!!
