  1. I am contemplating as well about sending the payment via mail. I called NVC this past Monday and I asked how long it takes for them to clear the check. The lady who answered my call said that it takes 30 days to update it in their system. From my understanding, it doesn't take 30 days for the check to clear. It takes 30 days for the NVC to update system, meaning, it'll show paid on the payment portal.

  2. If you filed for 2014, you can use your 1040. That's what I did. I sent my 1040 and w2 since I don't have my tax transcript for 2014. I didn't file electronically this year. I won't be able to obtain my tax transcript for 2014 until after June, I think 2nd week or towards the end of June. My plan is to get copies of it as soon as it is available and have my parents bring it on their interview just in case the CO wants a copy.

  3. I called them and my DS261 got reviewed. I have already paid my AOS fee and told them it has been 3 weeks since I paid and my IV fee hasn't been invoiced. I called NVC Tuesday, reviewed both my parents DS261. Wednesday, I got an email saying I can now pay the IV fees. But now, the payment portal is having glitches so I am unable to pay the fees.

  4. I applied for both my parents in february. Both petitions were approved in March. I am at the NVC stage of the process. I think this is where it'll take long. I just received an email from NVC stating that it'll take at least 60 days to review the documents I sent because of the USCIS has been approving petitions quickly. I am still waiting for my IV fee to be invoiced so I can pay. But NVC is having problems with their payment portal.

  5. Hi! Anybody here tried to pay the AOS Fee or IV Fee via mail? I was just wondering how long does it take to be cleared. I am thinking about going that route since the payment portal is down and we have no idea when it'll come back up. At least, if I send the money now, the only thing I need to worry about is filling out the DS260 form once the website is fixed. Any thoughts? Input highly appreciated!

    Thanks!!!

  6. Thanks akpman for bringing it up. So I googled I 864 for parents. Trooper, you have to fill out one AOS form for your mom and another for your dad. I am also in the same boat as you are. I am just waiting for some documents from my parents then I will submit my AOS package. But, for the mean time, I have been searching how to answer the form because I am also confused about some questions. Part 3, put a check on item # 1, leave #2 blank. That's what I have read from a thread I searched in google as mentioned by akpman.

  7. Probably, they have changed it then. I remember, I had a friend who went for her medical just with the email from NVC that has her case number. It's been 4 years ago. Mu husband, who was in South Korea, didn't have to wait for the interviwe letter from the embassy. As soon as we had the email confirmation from NVC with his case number, he went on for his medical. BUt this was 4 years ago as well.

  8. Request a transfer of your case. Once USCIS approves the petition, they forward the case to NVC.NVC assigns the case number for your petition. It will look like MNL01234567. MNL means Manila, that'll be the US embassy where the immigrant will be interviewed. Once you have a case number, if you need to transfer the case to Dubai, you have to email NVC then so your parents do not have to go back to the Philippines for the interview. That's what I did for my husband. He was in South Korea when I started the process. He's Filipino but working abroad. As soon as I got his case number, I emailed tthem to request for a transfer from Manila,Philippines to South Korea because he was wroking there. But my husband has an alien registration card that time. I think that made a difference. His alien registration card is like a permanent resident card here in the states.

  9. I sent my application for both my parents sometime in February of this year. It got approved in March. 33 days to be exact! At first, I could not believe that both cases had been approved. I had to read the email 3x, checked the case on the USCIS website 3x. It is true!!! I am just so thankful about it. I got the letter in the mail 4 days after their petitions were approved.
