I received a notification today that there had been some activity on my account. I logged in to this news:
Oath Ceremony De-Scheduled.
Sent on July 25, 2019The PDF that was uploaded says this:
This is to advise you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to cancel the previously scheduled Oath Ceremony on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 09:00am for the above applicant. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.
We will advise you of any further action taken on this case, including any rescheduled interview appointment information, under separate notice.
***Oh no!
As I suspected, they uploaded a new letter with the Oath date of the 22nd instead of the 23rd, and I've since received this letter in the mail. So nothing else to do now, just show up to the place and get sworn in.
-
I've done a basic google about 'oath ceremony de-scheduled' and I don't have any arrests, nor am I changing my name!. What I believe that has happened, and this is just my own speculation is that I know the courthouse where the Oath will take place, and the courthouse's own website lists the dates of when they do the Oath's. Their website states the 22nd of August, but the letter that was uploaded says the 23rd. When I saw the uploaded pdf (I have not yet received the letter in the mail yet), I called up the courthouse and asked them if their website was incorrect and that they would be doing Oath's on the 23rd. The person on the other end told me that they had not recevied anything from Fairfax yet and I should call them. (Fairfax is where I had my interview). My guess is that it should be the 22nd and NOT the 23rd and because of the clerical error, someone has to re-issue the paperwork. Just my guess.

I believe I'm also in the same boat as a couple of people here. I had my successful interview last month but I've not yet had notice about my Oath Ceremony.
I know which courthouse it will be. My interview told me the town it would take place, and a quick google gave me the courthouse's website and they list the dates they do the Oaths (about once a month).
But I'm still waiting for the letter to arrive. My account on uscis now has a timeline of August (it was originally October when I started this process).

@Geordie You can apply for a US passport once you have your citizenship certificate. For the SSN update, fill out the SS-5 and take that to your local Social Security office, along with your citizenship certificate (and all the other ID and docs required) about 10 days after your oath. That's the time USCIS recommend you wait, I guess they have to get their side of things squared away.
Wonderful, thanks very much GoodbyGirl

Yay! Awesome! Congratulations!
Are you going to send in your OG naturalization certificate for passport or a certified copy? If a copy, how are you getting one so quickly? DO they give you a copy at the ceremony?I plan on applying for a US passport very soon.
But.
I'm not sure yet what order I need to do things. I'll research that later when I hear about my Oath date.
I believe after I receive the naturalization certificate at the Oath Ceremony, I take that to a local Social security office to get my SSN card changed, and THEN apply for a passport?
I'm not too concerned yet.
My only worry is that I'm vacationing in Florida next month. If they schedule my Oath that same week, I'm going to be pissed! I know I can reschedule it.

I had my interview yesterday in Fairfax, Virginia and passed!
My Wife and I arrived about 45 minutes early. She didn't need to be at the interview, but was there to support me. The clerk at the desk sternly told me to come back thirty minutes before the interview time so we hung out in the waiting room and I handed in my letter to the clerk, I was told to take a seat and someone would call me.
Two people didn't show up when called, they could have been there for any other reason but I was sad for them as this is an expensive process.
Anyway, I figured I'd get called earlier because of the no-shows and I was right. My name was called about 15 or 20 minutes before my interview time.
I was taken into a small interview room and I had to do the 'do you swear to tell the truth, and nothing but etc'. I was then asked for my ID, passport and greencard, the interviewer took them and typed something on his computer.
He then took my fingerprints electronically and another photograph.
The only small talk we did was he asked me why I got a greencard, I told him I Married my Wife and moved here.
I was asked my Wife's name and I made sure to add her middle name just in case.
Then we did the English test, he made a point of saying I'd pass this easily as I'm English. I can't remember what I had to say but for the written test I had to write 'We pay taxes' on an ipad. Hahahahahaha!
Next was the application, he asked me if my parents were American Citizens and then went through the entire 'No' section. Have you ever been part of a terrorist group / have you ever taken part in genocide' etc.
Then we did the 10 questions, I can't remember which ones but I got the first six right.
The whole interview was under fifteen minutes.
This was in Fairfax, Virginia. The interviewer asked me if I knew where Harrisonburg was, and I had to tell him I didn't.
He explained that the Oath Ceremony would be in that city and not Fairfax. It's based on the zipcode where you live.
I was disappointed that the Oath wouldn't be at the same place and day, but it does mean I'll get another day off work, which is nice!
When I find out when that is and go through with it, I'll post about my experience.

My interview is tomorrow in Fairfax, VA. Mixture of excitement and nerves. I'll post about the experience when I get home afterwards. I'm treating it just like an interview, I'll be wearing a shirt and necktie.
-
I honestly think the uscis website says no jeans for the interview. I have mine on Friday, I'm wearing black pants, white shirt and a necktie, treating it like a work interview.

I didn't send in photos for my N400 application (Oct-2018). My photo was taken at my biometrics but I wasn't asked to sign them at interview. I wasn't asked to produce any photos on the day, but just to be on the safe side, I got my passport photos done and took them with me. I needed them anyway for my USA passport application which I'm planning on submitting after my oath ceremony on 19 April.
Good luck!

Thank you both I'm just going through everything in the application again, the usual nerves. April 19th is my interview.
-
Did anyone not submit photographs with their application? At the time the wording on the uscis website suggested I didn't need to as I was not living abroad at the time.
Photograph(s) were taken at my biometrics. Are they the ones you sign at the interview?
I'm mulling over what I've done / not done and I think I should get some photographs done, just in case and have them with me for my interview next month.
-
Are the photograph(s) taken during the Biometrics sufficient for the Citizenship certificate (should I be successful during the interview of course)?
The date of the biometrics photograph(s) and interview are under six months. The wording at the time on the USCIS website suggested I didn't need to submit photographs.
(Something along the lines of if I was abroad, submit photographs, but I've been in the USA the whole time).
So I did not, the application has been accepted as far as I know as they've scheduled my interview next month.
Should I get passport style photographs done just in case and have them with me for the interview?

We just received notice that the interview has been scheduled! The letter hasn't arrived yet and it's not been uploaded onto USICS yet but I imagine it'll be within the next few weeks. Any advice?
My interview letter was uploaded by the next day so I'd certainly recommend checking your online account very soon.

You can put off your naturalisation ceremony until after your planned trip and travel as a permanent resident (UK passort+greencard). That way you won't have to rush to get your US passport. Ask at your interview how often they do ceremonies. Some are same day. Others are once a month or even bi-monthly. depending on the answer and if you think you need to delay, notes could be put in your file that you are not available for a ceremony until [date].
Cheers, thank you.

I have my interview date! April 19th.
179 days between them receiving the application to the date of the interview.
N400 paperwork mailed and received in Texas on the 22nd October. Check cashed on the 26th and on the 2nd November I received by mail my Biometrics appointment which is the 14th November.

No, the US does not care if you have another passport or 20 other passports (unless obtaining by illegal means, of course).
After you successfully take the Oath to be a US citizen, you will need to use the US passport to leave and enter the US. To the US government, you will be considered a US citizen and have all the rights, privileges ad responsibilities thereto appertaining to a US citizen. The fact that you're still a UK citizen is immaterial to the US.
You need to bring your UK passport and green card to the interview. After you pass the interview, they will schedule a day for the Oath ceremony. On rare occasions, if they happen to do an Oath ceremony the same day, they may ask to you join. Normally, you will come home and they will send you a letter with a date/time for the Oath. At the Oath, they will take away your green card and give you the Naturalization certificate. You then need to use the Nauralization certificate to apply for the US passport.
Thank you

Thank you very much

When I submitted my N400 application I submitted some flight itinerary copies of emails showing I had left the USA twice within the last 5 years.
I did not submit a scan of my passport showing the stamps.
The application must have been successful as they have scheduled my interview next month and not asked for any additional evidence.
Do I give up my UK passport if I am successful at the Citizenship interview? I would like to use my passport a month later. I can probably expedite an American passport.
But if I do not have to, that would be great.
The letter does say ""You MUST BRING the following with you to the interview:
"Your passport and / or any other documents you used in connection with any entries into the United States"
I used my greencard both times to enter back into the USA. So I'm really not sure.

My wife submitted her N-400 application at the very end of October..her estimated completion date isn't until May 2020 😠
I believe everyone who had submitted their N400 in October has already received at least their biometrics appointment dates, so you should at least get that soon.
