Finally got my Certificate of Naturalization in the mail. I am really, really done... it's time to sign off. I will miss everyone here.

All done!! My oath was a 1pm CST today in northern Indiana. There were 48 of us from 20 different countries. Half from Mexico and the rest from the Middle East and Asia. I was the only Swede and the only blonde. lol The judge who presided over the ceremony was wonderful. He kept cracking jokes and was very encouraging and welcoming, He said he loved hosting Naturalization ceremonies. I registered to vote and updated my records with the Social Security Administration. I'm glad I could take care of it there instead of dragging my 2-year-old down to the SSA office here in town. My husband is throwing me a party tomorrow to celebrate with friends and family.

Can someone update me to US citizen, please? I can't get the chart to post correctly.

Yeah, I can't count how many times I called and bitched at them. lol It took 2 service requests (one made by me, the other by a customer rep) and my senator's prodding to finally get an oath date.

My oath is in a different time zone than my house. Way to make me nervous, USCIS, that I'm going to mess the time up and arrive too early or too late.

I know it feels like it will neeeeeeeeeeeeeeever get there

Woohoo! I'm officially a USC! About darn time and a nice present for the 7th wedding anniversary (coming in October).

The ceremony was nice. I got there about 12.30, an officer started explaining rules and checking if everyone had the letters filled out and green cards ready about 12.50. They started calling names at 1.10, and the actual ceremony began at 1.45. We were done by 2.15. I waited in line to update my SS status. Keeping my old card:) The election people were not there, so I'm gonna have to go and register at the election board. Didn't have time to file for the passports. Didn't get to take a picture with the judge, he left while I was dealing with SSA. Oh well.

There was about 45 new citizens there. They did not call out the countries, so i have no idea how many people were from a certain place. Definitely most were Latin American, at least half a dozen was named Martinez (not related). I think I saw two more former-USSR people, not sure if they were from Russia.

My two older sons also became citizens, a year to the day after getting their green cards.

Anyway, I'm very happy. Probably excited, too, but too tired to feel it

Oh, and a fun fact. I was the only person among the new citizens who new the author of the Star-Spangled Banner

I just received mine too, but I got a new card, even though the guy at the ceremony said mine was fine. Mine was changed when I became a PR. The new card hasa date issued that the old ones don't have.

My landlord got a piece of mail for me yesterday, which I picked up this morning. It was my CON - the mail carrier didn't try to stuff it into the mailbox (YAY).

I won't be so lucky, my mail person bends ALL my mail especially the ones that say 'DON'T BEND'....glad to see you got it back in one piece

It's a done deal...I am a US citizen! Got there at 8:30am. The ceremony happened at 11:30am. There were 240 persons represented by 40 countries. They never gave us flags but we were able to register to vote. I went to social security and updated my status...

They did, thought they might as they tried to interview me while everyone was filing past with their certificates. But I was the one in the black/white check shirt/black glasses on the front row. I was wired during the ceremony and pledge, so it was my voice you could hear.
