Like you, I had no medical history to tell them about. The doctor asked me a quick few questions and said "Well, that was easy!" No problem at all.
About the I-129F copy, I personally have a copy of everything including the original evidence but that's because I'm the one who put the package together. I recommend having a copy just in case anything's gotten lost in the process, but I honestly don't believe it's totally necessary. It's good that you have the originals of your evidence. I wouldn't worry too much about it if it's not something you have. Maybe others here can chime in if they've actually needed their copy of the petition.
Yes, this is the proper place to be posting your questions. You're going to be going through the Montreal consulate, and some questions/answers are consulate specific so it's good that you're asking them here instead of the general K1 forum where people may have different answers that don't really apply to you.
These forums have been invaluable to me in this process. There's no way I would have been as calm and well prepared as I am if it hadn't been for the people here who are willing to help and share their experiences. I'd have been completely lost!
Agreed with Coconuts! At this point beware of any info and tips given by anyone who's not going through one of the two Canadian consulates as there are regional differences.
You might want to find and read the thread "K1-ers waiting for Montreal". A lot of questions regarding the appointment with the consulate have been answered there

Excellent, that's almost exactly what mine says. Thank you!
Does Montreal require one from me as well, or just my fiance?
I had both mine and my fiance's ready but they only asked for his letter. They had me sign a form which says that you will marry your fiance within 90 days of your arrival so they don't need the applicant's.
-
Uh oh, now I'm worried!
I have an updated letter of intent, but it's basically the same thing my original one said. The only thing that's different is that the date's close to my interview.
I think the requirement for the 2nd letter of intent is that it has to be signed within 30 days of the interview. They did't compare the ones I provided.
Here's a sample for those who might need one :
CITY NAME, DATE
United States Department of Homeland Security
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
Consulate General of the United States of America
1155, rue Saint-Alexandre
Montreal, QC H3B 3Z1
CANADA
Dear Sir or Madam,
I, YOUR NAME, do hereby state that I am legally able and willing to marry FIANCE(E)'S NAME, and intend to do so within 90 days of my arrival into the US using the K-1 visa.
Yours truly,

Thanks for answering my question guys
Jeannie: Ugh... You sent the petition July last year and only had your interview this week? :\ Well, if mine goes at the same rate as yours then I have about 5 months to go. That's not too bad, I just hope it goes smoothly.
If you don't mind answering another question... I know that, among other things, you're supposed to bring your "medical history" to the examination. I have not yet received any further instructions as my case only just left the NVC last week, but I thought I'd call my physician and ask about the process and associated fees for obtaining my medical history just to be prepared. She said that she needs more detail regarding what I specifically need before she can help me. I already have my vaccination record, but I was wondering if you know what other "specific" documents one generally needs to bring to the medical examination? (I'm guessing this may vary depending on which panel physician does it). Or, is it at least explained in detail in the instructions I will be receiving in the future, or is a pdf available online?
Sorry for asking so many question!
Thanks again!
Hi there,
You will be interviewing in Montreal and there are 2 medical clinics you can choose from there. There is also a medical clinic in the Toronto area.
As for the medical history, you will need to disclose (and document if applicable) any surgery/serious & chronic illness/current and past alcohol & drug use/medication/mental health history. Other than that, they take a chest x-ray, check your vaccination record, give you the missing shots and run a blood test. Whole process takes about an hour.
For your birth certificate, have it translated. Mine was delivered by the province of Quebec (in French) and the consulate did ask me for my translated copy. You could probably get away with not providing a translated version but I wouldn't risk it.
I would also recommend you start digging in the Canada regional forum further to gather info for your upcoming packet 3 and 4
It's exciting, you're almost there!

My hubby and I are trying to registar him for DHL.....We put in his passport number , name, dob, all that info , even selected 'permanantly immigrating to u.s(sheduled by NVC) we already have an interview date. Got all the way to the end and all the site says is 'there are no appointments avaiable' We are so confused, anyone know how to schedule this correctly? THankyou!
And the instructions they provide don't even work lol
http://csc.public.s3.amazonaws.com/Canada/How%20to%20Register%20for%20Courier%20Services.pdf
http://usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/us_courier_information
I couldn't manage to get to that registering page for DHL ont the CSC website either. I wrote them an email at contactus_en_CA@usvisa-info.com and they set it up for me.
You will have to provide the following information :
- Applicant ID #
- Case Number
- Passport number
- Date of birth
- Name in passport
- DHL Location
Good luck!

Just wanted to let you guys know I got approved today yay!

Has anyone scheduled a K1 interview in Montreal recently?
I see on VJ the interview wait time for Montreal Consulate is 120 days. http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/stats.php?cfl=$cfl
Is it really that bad? Thanks.
There are a lot of post regarding Montreal's appointment scheduling in the Canadian regional forum. Here's the latest : http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/307225-any-word-from-montreal
Sorry to be the bearer o bad news but it seems Montreal is currently booked until August and the consulate has not been allowing anyone to schedule an interview with them for the last 3 weeks.
But there is hope. A few of us could snag April/early May interview when we became eligible a month ago. Sometimes earlier dates become available and you can reschedule for a sooner appointment.
Good luck with your petition!

Can you please tell me where you read the post about Montreal? Thanks!

Thank you for all your advice. The problem with planning a later wedding is that my fiance is military and will be deployed later in the fall. He is only on the continent for about 2 months at a time which does not giving us many options for a wedding date. It's not hard to move around a civil ceremony but a big reception will travelling guests is tricky. I know it's risky but I do have a Nexus card which should help and I am planning on being honest and returning to Canada to finish up the process. I will have a return plane ticket as well as letters from my boss and rental agreements. We might try getting the process expedited for the military reason.
In your situation, I would request an expedite.
Best of luck with your wedding planning!

How far is Medisys in Montreal from the US consulate? We are coming from Alberta for interview? It would be hard for us to go there for Medical and come back again for interview. I was wondering if we could be intervied the same week as the actual inteview date?
Medisys is less than 10 minutes walk form the Consulate. I would recommend not driving and commute on the subway instead (and get off either at McGill or Place-des-Arts station). It's a 5 minute walk from either of those stations. Or stay at an hotel nearby and walk. Traffic can be horrible downtown Montreal.
You can have your medical done up to 3 days prior to your interview and pick up your packet the morning you are interviewing. I would recommend calling the day before your appointment with the consulate to ensure they have your packet waiting for your at their front desk. Should your packet not be ready on time, you can still do your interview as they will provide a sealed envelop to give to the consulate. Once your results are ready ask Medisys to mail the packet to you and you will have to mail them to the consulate through DHL with your passport.
Medisys opens at 6:45 AM and you can walk to the consulate and be there 10 minutes later. That's what I did and my fiance and I were 2nd in line. We were out of the consulate by 8:30.

Hi everyone,
I have been tentative about setting a wedding date because I know it's hard to predict when your visa will be approved. However, we applied in September 2010 and I was hoping to get married in October 2011. Our date isn't set in stone but it's getting to the point where my family needs to start booking plane tickets soon if we want to get married in October. I sent pkt 3 in March and am waiting for pkt 4 from Montreal. The problem is, that Montreal hasn't been booking any interviews for 3 weeks so even when I do get pkt 4, I can't book an interview at this time. Last I saw, they were booking into the end of July and that was 3 weeks ago. I'm a little concerned that I won't get my visa by October. Anyway, I guess my question is, can I go to America and have my reception (without getting married) then return to Canada to finish the visa process? We could have a civil/legal ceremony when I actually get the visa at a later date. Does anyone have any advice or experience with this?
I read on a post this morning that Montreal is booked all the way to August and they will clear the backlog before allowing any more appointments to be scheduled. I know you must be eager to be done with this process and it sucks they won't allow booking interviews for now
Keep in mind that travelling to the US on a pending K-1 visa is tricky. No law prevents it but you could be denied entry based on immigration intent reasons. If you are asked if you have a loved one in the US you will have to disclose that you are engaged. Keep in mind when making your decision that entry denial happens to a lot of engaged and married couples with a pending visa. If you do visit, be ready to show strong ties to Canada (pay stubs, letter from your employer saying they expect you back by this date, lodging and rental proofs, etc).
Should you be denied or are offered to withdraw your application for entry, stay calm and polite. It's sad but it won't hurt your visa application as long as you were truthful in your answers. It happened to me and the couple interviewing before us in Montreal last week and we were both approved
I would personally look into hosting your reception in Canada and have your fiance visit instead.
Good luck!

Had a great interview at the Montreal consulate...It was over before I knew it. When he handed me the Welcome to America letter and said "Based on the information you have provided......." I cried....I apologized but he assured me it was ok because they like to see happy tears.
I will write a review when I get home later this evening or in the morning. I just wanted to post here to let everyone know :-) Thanks for all the great help and continued support of VJ, without you we never would have done this so smoothly :-)
:dance:Doing the happy dance!
So happy for you!!! Congrats

I was scheduled for an interview on the 28th which is tomorrow, only 2 days after my medical which was the 26th april. I wont have the results until next week but my interview is tomorrow! can i still go without the medical results? i've been trying to contact the embassy but they keep putting me throught o an answering machine. please help!!!
Not sure if there is a specificity to Ireland but my own results were not ready when I showed for my consular appointment in Montreal, Canada. The medical clinic provided me with a sealed envelope which I gave to the consulate. I gave them all the other required forms and paperwork and I received instructions on how to mail my medical and passport to the consulate when it is ready.
Try calling the clinic instead. It must've happened before.
Good luck!

That is great news SF2007 :-) How was your interview?
My interview went smoothly and great! It was painless and I wish I didn't worry so much. Both my fiance and I attended and we were out by 8:30. Only downside : my medical wasn't ready so I got a letter from Medisys instead and I will need to have it shipped to me then mail it to Montreal for processing. It will delay my visa issuance by about 2-3 weeks but back a month ago I thought I would be interviewing in July so... it's all good
They only asked me to provide the following :
- passport
- Packet 4 letter (which confirms you can book you appointment)
- birth certificate, a copy and it's translation
- Affidavit of support (i-134) and its supporting material
- Proof of payment
- letter of intent to marry from fiance
- medical packet
- police clearance
I received a FAQ sheet about K-1 visas and another sheet explaining how to complete my application (send in my medical) by mail.

Yes i am assuming it is another type visa. I was just hoping they weren't misinformed.....Thanks so much! I am ready....probably more than ready. I think I have overkill with the paperwork I am taking but better to have too much than not enough, right? Of course this week I am starting to get that cold/flu that has been going around. Grrrrrr. I have been popping Cold FX since Monday night when I first felt the sore throat coming on. I really don't want to be sick at my interview!!! I know it won't matter but just not pleasant. This time next week my interview will be all over....Or at least I would hope it will be...I plan on being the first person in the line up. I wonder if they got the elevator fixed at the consulate yet? I had everything down pat until I heard that news and how it frigs up the order.....I guess I will find out when I get there.
The elevator was fixed on April 18 when I went for my interview.

I just got back from collecting mine at DHL office
I leave for Missouri on Tuesday.
Congratulations and good luck to everyone
Great to read! Have a nice trip

I have my visa in my hands (well, next to me on the table)!!
The CSC website never showed me that it was available, in fact, now it pretty much tells me I have no reason for an account. Instead, DHL emailed last night and called this morning.
I will be married and on my way to a holiday in 3 weeks!
Grats!!! This is incredible news!!

I had my medical done in Montreal. They told me that it would be ready for pick up after 3 business days. They also told me that I could pick it up before the interview because they open at 6:30, and it is only a few minutes walk to the consulate. You can call and ask questions before you book.
I had my medical done at Medisys in Montreal. They do tell you it will be ready in 3 business days but it sometimes isn't (mine wasn't). If it's not ready for your interview they will give you a sealed envelop to give the consulate. You can still go on with your appointment and you will be told by the consulate that you need to mail the whole medical packet from your local DHL location with your passport when it is ready.
-
Hm, I never received an email confirmation. Is this just because you changed your original interview date?
I got an email confirmation both time : when I first scheduled and when I rescheduled online. Might be sitting in yours spam box?
They specifically asked for the Packet 4 letter and I provided both the letter and the confirmation email. Not sure if the email is mandatory or not.

Thanks guys. I just found out yesterday that they sent my pkt 4 to my fiance in the US....addressed to him and written to me? hmm?
Well at least one of us got it.
SF2007 hope you interview went well yesterday!
My fiance and I both received the same letter. Yours must be in the mail but to make sure, have him scan it and mail to you so you can take it to both your medical and appointment in Montreal.
My interview went well thank you! We were the second couple in line and out by 8:30 AM
I will write a review shortly in the embassy section.
As soon as I get my last medical result (my medical was not ready at Medysis after 5 business days), I will mail them the packet and they will process with the visa.
They asked me to provide the following :
-birth certicate, its copy & translation
-passport & appointment letter & email confirmation
-police clearance
-Affidavit of support (I-134)
-My fiance's letter of intent to marry
-medical packet
-Appointment fees proof of payment
They had me sign a form and gave me a fact sheet about what to do with my K-1 visa when I get it.
-
I just did my medical this morning and all they asked of me was my passport, pictures, immunization records and my Packet 4 letter. I had the confirmation of my appointment with me but I wasn't asked for it.
The letter they need is the Packet 4 one. It does have your case number on the 3rd page.

Hey guys,
Hope someone can help me here. I am trying to book an interview and still say no available appointments at this time! I log in to the site more than 10 times a day to get a date. I was wondering why this happening is! Did anyone book an interview since last week?

Montreal Interviews
in Canada
Posted
I confirm, late July. I booked sometime early March I was lucky enough afterwards to snag someone's April cancellation.
