  1. WARNING: STAY AWAY FROM FOREX, RP delivery service!

We had a box picked up from our house on Nov 7, 2011 and thankfully we heard it was delivered Sat Jan 28th, 2012. I do have tp tell you that it was very stressful dealing with FOREX and we were sure it was never going to be delivered. We have heard every excuse in the book. Trouble with shipping department, hold up with customs in Manila, then days of the "computer system" is down. We were then told that they have no say or sway with the RP workers, meaning once it hits the RP, good luck. On top of that, everyone we spoke to was NASTY. Yelling at us, giving us promises they would call back with updates (Never once received any returned call backs). Once a women named precious told my wife that the box was loaded on the truck and would be delivered. When we called two days later when the box never showed, they told me to my face that my wife must be lying. I am making it a point to let everyone know to find any other service besides FOREX. There are plenty of other services you can use. You do not want to deal with the horrible company unless you like aggravation.

  2. STAY AWAY, do not use PX Cargo. They take your money and box and it will disappear. They cannot be contacted by phone or by the web, their web site has already expired! STAY AWAY and do not use them. They are crooks and theives.

  3. If you just got married your wife can not HOLD DUAL Citizenship. The law changed many years ago and the only ones

that can DUAL it are those children that have one of the parents as a U.S. citizen.

To answer your question. First if she becomes a U.S. citizen she looses the right to own property and the Medical from the Philippines. She is not U.S.A certified (LOL) and her connection to the Philippines is only her past not her future.

In my case I want my wife to stay a Philippine citizen and hold Permanent residence here in the U.S.A. that way we can own property in the philippines and she has the best of both worlds. If I die it is then up to her if she wants to break the ties to the Philippiens which I would feel she WILL NOT.

We are build a house in CDO Cagayan De Oro and that is not possible if she was to be a U.S. citizen we would have to put it in her Mom and Dads name. NO THANKS.

This is incorrect. When a filipino takes the oath to become a US citizen, he or she gives up the Philippine citizenship at that moment. If you check the website of the Philippine embassy, you will find the forms needed to complete to reclaim your Filipino citizenship. It is not a difficult process but you will need to appear at the embassy to retake the oath. You then enjoy being a dual citizen. Check with the embassy, here in Colorado the embassy staff held an event where they came to Colorado for the new passports and dual citizenship processing locally.

You will only be required to pay taxes to the Philippines on money you earn IN the Philippines, not money earned in the US.

  4. When I joined this forum, Texas was slower than every center, to the point some folks went and picketed outside the facility. Up to 6-9 months ago, people would post here, asking how they could sent their petition to the VSC as they would churn out NOA2's within a month or two and the other centers were behind by 3-9 months. I have used the NSC, which is just slow all the time.

  5. Marilyn was employed in Hong Kong for a period of time. We were able to get a letter stating that the request is needed on behalf of the US embassy from St Lukes. Used that letter along with the MNL number to ask for the police clearance. Also had emails from HK police giving us the time when it was sent to the embassy and the registered mail number.

  6. ...

    Don't worry about that.

If you have fingerprint done by USCIS within last 16 months or so, they will not do it again, and will use previous result.

    ...

    Hi Moonhunt,

Are you sure? This is the first time I read about this. I see in some users record that they have gone to the Biometrics although they had done it less than a year ago. Can you show me a good source for this information?, because I am also waiting for my Biometrics letter. :hehe:

While I cannot refer you to anything in writing, I live next door to an USCIS officer. We submitted our application about 10 months after getting biometrics for the 751 application. We received no biometrics notice for 6 month after submitting the N-400. The officer told me that biometrics are good for 16 months and if the USCIS was super fast with our N-400 and it was completed prior to the 16 months, we wouldn't have had to get it again.

  7. So, after a BAJILLION months of waiting, Andrew's petition for immigration was APPROVED! (I-130)

    ...And, oddly, denied (I-129F).

See, when I filed K3, both the I-129F and the I-130 at the same time. For some reason, USCIS sent back the I-130 to my lawyer who had to resubmit. So, even though both should have been filed at the same time, the I-129F was filed first.

Anyway, long story short, I get two letters today, one stating the I-130 was APPROVED!!!! (As of 9/3/08, but for some reason it still says it's "pending" online.) And another saying that the I-129F was declined "Because the Form I-129F that you submitted is based upon the Form I-130 that you filed subsequently."

So, I assume this means I'm going CR-1 route, I assume?

There's no negatives to the I-129F being declined as long as the I-130 is approved, right?

    Thanks for the help!

    YAY APPROVAL!!!!

If the lawyer filed the I-129 before he received the NOA1 for the I-130, then I would demand he pay you back for what you lost in the failed petition. If they filed the I-129 first or together with the I-130, then they have no idea what they are doing and have wasted your money.

  8. Thanks to all,

We just applied for the US passport this Saturday and once that arrives, we will have to travel to San Franciso to appear at the Philippine embassy to apply for a new RP passport and duel citizenship. So immigration related items are not all behind us but at least the USCIS is.

    Thanks again, Marilyn and Peter.

Just an FAQ for others doing the same. We went to the post office on August 23rd, 2008 on Saturday and submitted the request for Marilyn's US passport. The passport arrived in the mail today, less than two full weeks with just normal processing. Still haven't received her naturalization certificate yet but I understand they send it seperately.

Today, just one day later, we received Marilyn's naturalization certificate in a seperate envelope from the Department of State. Wow, that was really fast. Now, really the only thing left to do is to renew Marilyn's Philippines passport and apply for duel citizenship. From information taken from the website, it seems we may need to physically appear at the embassy in San Francisco. Jeez, can't we get a break? Does every part of this process have to cost us weeks of pay?

  10. In case you didn't see this, here are metrics about N-400's from September. I assume it is time from submission to completion.

    Data from September.

Try this link instead, the other one worked yesterday. Charleston, SC appears to be 14.1 months, start to finish.

  11. I went through the trouble of finding the exact spot where SS says what you should do but you seem dead set on your opinion which is fine, just wondering why you asked the question then.
This is my point. They say what you SHOULD do, not what you are legally REQUIRED to do. The government thinks you SHOULD do a lot of things. Why? Here's a hint: not necessarily because it is to your benefit. Government just wants to keep tabs on you and if you want to voluntarily help it control and manage your life, then by all means, go ahead.

What we've got here is...failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you.

    I won't bother anymore.

  12. Great thing about the US, don't need to do it at all. Ignore advise and written instruction and do whatever you want.
Great sarcasm - but you still haven't clearly illustrated the need to do this.

Strictly speaking, even people who are BORN in the U.S. and citizens from birth are not legally required to obtain a social security number, or tell the SSA anything about themselves. While doing so may make life in society somewhat difficult, one would still be perfectly within the law.

Yep, little sarcasm. Not because I am some type of Social Security fan, but you asked a question based on what I just expirienced. I went through the trouble of finding the exact spot where SS says what you should do but you seem dead set on your opinion which is fine, just wondering why you asked the question then. Who knows what laws will be passed in the next few years, maybe one that says that permanent residents have to work 50 years before getting any benefits. Only took me 15 minutes to submit the forms.
