NVC Documents/Turkey Certficates

Hello - My husband is immigrating from Turkey and we are waiting to be DQ'd by the NVC currently. We just received feedback from the NVC that my husband's police and birth certificates are the incorrect documents, even though we pulled them straight from the website that the travel.state.gov website references. Does anyone have experience with this or could point us in the direction of where to find the correct documents?

I screenshotted just the tops of each document here to show the names of the doc, but not include any personal information. Please help if you can!

NVC Email, But No Update no Profile

We received an automated email from the NVC this morning saying, "The National Visa Center (NVC) updated the status of your immigrant visa application" and yet when we log onto our profile, there are no updates. No messages, nothing is marked incomplete or even "accepted", it's all the same. Has anyone seen this before? Is it just, like, slow to update?

GOT SSN AS B2 TOURIST, PROBLEMS WHEN FILING FOR CR-1?

HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION- OK sorry for the lenghty preamble but I have to set the assumptions first:

1. A foreigner with a B2 visa comes to USA and meets/falls in love with a US military veteran with full benefits (and SSDI);

2. Weeks/months later (well within the visa stamp time frame) they decide to marry, but the foreign spouse will not stay in the US or file for AOS since the foreigner has a life/family overseas AND the US Citizen is a part-time resident in that country as well. They will follow the rules and submit an I-130 via DCF (if possible) or via online AFTER they both return to her/his country;

3. US citizen tries to get foreign spouse a military dependent ID card to enroll her in TRICARE medical insurance and gets told at the ID Card office that the foreign spouse must have SSN or a letter from SSA denying it. The Veterans Administration says the same thing when US Citizen military veteran attempts to file for new dependent(s) benefits.

4. SSA (contrary to myths) will issue a SSA card/number (Type 3) which:

"...Shows your name and Social Security number with the restriction, "NOT VALID FOR EMPLOYMENT".

We issue it to people from other countries who:

  • are lawfully admitted to the United States without work authorization from DHS, but have a valid non-work reason for needing a Social Security number; or
  • need a number because of a federal law requiring a Social Security number to get a benefit or service."
  • https://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/cards.htm

So....the predicament is: If the SSA issues an actual SSN instead of a letter, should we refuse it since it could represent a problem of (erroneous, IMHO) perception?

Since the spouse has a lawful reason to obtain a SSN to secure her lawful benefits as the dependent of a military veteran, I cannot imagine USCIS/NVC questioning the couple's motives...but then again we are talking about bureaucrats.

NOWHERE in US law is marriage while on x or y visa or under xx days prohibited. The prohibition (DOS/NVC) is on the 30/60/90 days for FILING a petition and/or adjusting status from inside the USA, correct?

I would appreciate your analysis. Thanks!

Hi, I am a US citizen and I filed I130 for my parents in July 1st, 2022. The "Estimated time until case decision" gone from 4 weeks left to, 3 weeks, 2 weeks, 1 week and now saying "Your case is taking longer than expected to process. You do not need to take any action at this time.". It has been saying this for 3 weeks now.

Transferring K1 Visa from Warsaw, Poland to Turkey

Hi everyone,

We applied for a K1 visa and got NOA1 on 1/03/22. We put down the embassy location as Warsaw, Poland based on guidance for Russian applicants. With all the recent issues of Russians trying to enter Europe, we wanted to explore a different option. We both are residents of Turkey and we wanted to see if we can transfer our case to either the Istanbul or Ankara location. Our reasoning is that we are both residents and it would save us time and money (having to fly back to Russia, get a Schengen visa, go to a European country, and then go to Poland - where there is a lot of scrutiny to Russian passport holders.)

My question is do I reach out the Turkish (Istanbul/Ankara) locations now or after NOA2 approval? I've heard conflicting information from many sources so I wanted to get someones input from here.

Notes:

  • I'm a US Citizen, my fiancee is Russian
  • We both have been living together in Turkey since 2021 as Residents and we both hold valid resident permits
  • We got NOA1 for our K1 visa application and listed Warsaw, Poland as our Embassy Location
