CR1 Visa - Concerned About Our Interview Date Taking so long (Merged Threads)

Priority date June 8th 2022

May 30th 2023 NVC received our approved our immigrant visa petition from USCIS.

On July 17th 2023 we requested to add a joint sponsor.

On August 21st & August 30th we were asked to submit our sponsors W2 forms.

On August 30th we received a message saying "All required applicant documents have been received."

Since then... NOTHING! It has been 2 months with no communication.

I emailed NVC and they responded what you would see below...

This case is documentarily complete, which means the NVC has all the documents we requested. Your application is waiting for an interview appointment, where a consular officer will adjudicate it.

The U.S. Embassy or Consulate provides the National Visa Center (NVC) with a list of available appointment dates and times. We will schedule your case for an interview appointment when an appointment date is available. We schedule appointments on a first in, first out basis. After we schedule your appointment, we will forward your case to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General in ANKARA

Although NVC strives to schedule appointments within three months of NVC s acceptance of all requested documentation, this timeframe is subject to the operating status and capacity of the consular section. Currently, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, most consular posts are operating at a limited capacity as they work through a backlog of immigrant visa applications and scheduling may take significantly longer.

We cannot predict how long it will take to schedule your appointment, but we will notify the applicant, the petitioner, and your attorney (if applicable) when an appointment is scheduled. Your case will stay at NVC until that time.

I am a US citizien living in the US and my wife is from Iran living in Turkey. The interview will be in Ankara Turkey.

Are we suppose to count from the date NVC received our case from USCIS on May 30th 2023 or the day where they say "All required documents have been received" on August 30th. One was 5months ago and the other one was 2 months ago... and we are waiting...

What do you think about our timing?

Thank you all!

I am petitioning the I-130 for my mom -a Syrian citizen- to immigrate to the US as a US citizen myself and I am at the process of choosing the embassy. I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience and whether their choice affected the wait times for the visa. Does anyone have any clue if choosing one over the other would make a difference. She will be getting the IR5 visa.

Thanks for your help!

Is lawyer assistance necessary for my case?

Hello,

I reside in Turkey and I recently got the Turkish citizenship. My place of birth is Syria. My fiance is an American citizen. I was told by some people that there might be complications for my case as I was born in Syria. Keep in mind I have been living in Turkey since 2015 under Temporary Protection. Would those circumstances warrant hiring a lawyer to help file the documents? Or should I go about it like everyone else and do it myself?

Has anyone had any issues with employment verification (e-verify) for not updating your social security record?

I applied for a passport after naturalization. The wait is currently 10-13 weeks. They took my naturalization certificate so I can't update my social security record until my passport is issued.

I'm about to get a new job and I'm a little worried there is going to be a problem with E-verify because of my out-of-date SS record.

We started applying for the K1 visa in April, but my fianc e and I constantly miss each other during this process. This longing grows day by day and constantly gives us stress. Is there any way we can speed up this process? Is there anything we need to do extra to get quick results?
