The United States Consulate General, Johannesburg, remains unable to resume routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa services at this time. We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date. The MRV fee is valid and may be used to schedule an interview appointment in the country where it was purchased within one year of the date of payment. If you have an urgent matter and need to travel immediately, please follow the guidance provided at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/ to request an emergency appointment.

Immigrant visa applicants should review Presidential Proclamation 10052 and should write JohannesburgIV@state.gov only if you have reason to believe you may qualify for one of the exceptions listed in the Proclamation here: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/proclamation-suspending-entry-aliens-present-risk-u-s-labor-market-following-coronavirus-outbreak/. American Citizen Services

U.S. citizens should contact the American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit by email at acsjohannesburg@state.gov for questions about consular services for U.S. citizens. Please note that per section 222(f) of the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act, we are not permitted to answer questions about visa applications for the friends, family or business contacts of U.S. citizens.
