Problem - No Letter or Email from NVC

Summary: I received notification (from a third party) of our NOA2 approval on February 7. I did not receive email from any agency. I did not receive a physical letter from the NVC. My fianc e has been worried and anxious because our case had not shipped to the consulate in Rio yet.

Here's a bit more detail:

My fianc e is Brazilian, we met via a dating site in the middle of 2022 and hit it off. In February of 2023, I went to visit her in the small city she lived in at the time, and stayed for 5 weeks. Everything was great. We then started the K1 visa application process, and I sent everything in in June. I received the email receipt that it was received on June 20.

Fast forward a little, and the fianc e sells her business and goes to S o Paulo to stay with her father. I went there on December 15th and stayed through March 1. Again, everything went well. She's amazing and our relationship is great.

Before I left to travel to Brazil, I put money down on a new house that would start construction in January. I put my previous house up for sale in January and quickly got an offer on it. There were a couple minor hitches as I was out of the country, but the sale went well. I closed on it the Tuesday after I got back and had three weeks to pack and move out.

While I was out of the country, I had my neighbor across the street gathering my mail. The I-797 from USCIS was in the mail when I returned home. There was nothing from the NVC.

I received notification from a third party service (***removed***) on February 7th that our application was approved by USCIS. The I-797 was waiting for me at home, but I never received any email. I'm wondering if someone fat-fingered the email address, although it is just my initials and birth year and a simple domain.

The time between when I got home from Brazil to when I was completely moved out of the house and came up to Tennessee to stay with a friend was very hectic, I was super stressed and my brain was just too distracted to follow what was going on.

I sent an inquiry email to NVC two weeks ago this Friday, but have not received a response. I have the RDJ number and can check the status on their site, and it just says "At NVC". So I dug around a little bit, found the process there, and realized I was supposed to create an account there and provide more stuff...

... but I never received the letter from them, nor any email!

AND... their customer service number just has a recording saying they're basically not going to answer calls and to use the resources on the website. I've spent a little bit using the search feature here, but couldn't find anything that applies to "the NVC never sent me anything". What can I do at this point? Wait for the email response? When I sent it, I didn't realize that I was missing the letter from NVC so I do not have the invoice ID to sign up on their site.

Use of public benefits by permanent residents

Hey,

I recall when Trump was elected/sworn in, there were a lot of requirements for new immigrants applying for a green card to list if they'd ever used any United States public benefits. They also had to report a credit score, any degrees they'd earned, classes they'd taken, etc.

I think it's been done away with, but with a Trump victory in 2024 well within the realm of possibility, what exactly are the restrictions on permanent residents receiving government aid, if any, as far as the USCIS and Department of State go?

Thank you!

Biometric Interview Scheduled For Last Week

I received the letter with my biometrics appointment in the mail today(and I have checked every single day). The only problem is the appointment was set for February 28th, 2024 and now it sounds like our visa could be denied for abandonment? This is complete insanity. The automated system is saying that it might not even be able to be rescheduled since the appointment date has already passed. Any tips?

Help a +18 Artist Getting a K-1 Visa?

Hey everyone. Thanks for the attention, first of all.

Secondly, obviously I won't be going into details about any of what I do. But, you know, like the title implies there will be mentions of +18 topics so please keep that in mind if it makes you uncomfortable.

---

With that being said:

I'm in a bit of a situation here!

Me and my fianc e have been in the process of filing for a K-1 for quite some time now.

We have received the NOA2 and are on the process of preparing for the interview process. However, I have been having some issues filing the DS-160.

See, I work with providing Adult-Oriented Commissioned Digital Artwork. Pornography. Straight up no ifs or buts. VERY kinky at that.

For the last couple of days I have been having trouble figuring out if that would be an issue during the interview process.

I know I need to inform the Consulate of my main source of income, and this is it! I draw. But I have no clue if this is something that would be considered undesirable for the interview process. Or even downright illegal, I have been having a lot of trouble determining where the U.S stands when it comes to pornographic digital artwork being illegal.

I am going to provide them with my socials (which will be damn awkward I am sure) but what can I do? I use Twitter to advertise myself, I need to give them my Twitter profile both for the sake of it being a social platform I use and also part of what makes my job work.

At least, that is what I think I need to do...

Frankly, I wouldn't really know what to do in case it is something that will get me denied from the Visa. Because this is what I do for a living, there is no way around that. And I don't think lying will get me anywhere.

I think I am just asking to know what I should be prepared to listen from the consulate?

Is it okay to inform them what I do for a living in this case?
