Oh wow--thank you! So I can submit DS-160 now that NVC has my case? And then just wait for them to put us into "in transit"? I've been trying to find a step-by-step guide that has specifics about DS-160 but most guides don't even mention it, let alone when to fill it out.

Thank you for this tip! I contacted NVC via their public inquiry form this past Friday; a few hours ago, they sent me my case number. However, I discovered I still need an "invoice ID" to be able to login to CEAC and do anything. Does anyone know how/when NVC sends their welcome letter? Is that physically in the mail or via email? I'm assuming I need the welcome letter to arrive to get the invoice ID, too...or should I send a public inquiry again? NOA1: Nov 1 NOA2: Jan 25 NVC Inquiry: Feb 24 Edit: As part of my inquiry, NVC discovered that USCIS also bungled my fiancé's birthdate, so NVC told me to send a passport scan to correct their documentation. USCIS continues to be mind-boggling bad at everything, even though we thought we finally escaped from them...Docs submitted today, fingers crossed this doesn't hold us up even more.

Congratulations!!! We were approved Wednesday, 1/25. It updated on my app first but took quitting and restarting the app to show up on my fiance's. Our NOA1 was November 1, 2021, so it was a 450-day wait. Now, to hurry up and wait for NVC! Thanks to everyone monitoring data and posting tips.

The best theory I've seen online for the increase in RFEs is that it's due to the new staff that USCIS has been training to adjudicate the backlogged I-129F cases. As newbies, they're probably erring on the side of caution and sending RFEs on cases that maybe more seasoned adjudicators would have accepted. The hope is that this means the RFE rate will start to decrease as the new staff gain confidence in what they're doing. Also, welcome to the waiting club! My fiancé is from Mexico so we've got that extra backlog to look forward to...Hang in there--hoping for a healthy pregnancy and arrival of your baby.

Any updates on how long the NVC to embassy interview process is taking at the CDMX embassy? I’ve been hearing worrisome things on Facebook that the wait is getting even longer for this part. We are NOA1 Nov 2021 so we’re not even expecting NOA2 until January 2023 at this point just trying to find good news somewhere!

Exactly. Also, quite a few of us are leading an effort to contact Congress and the White House to bring attention to these inhumane delays and help 1) keep USCIS to its promises and 2) make those efforts better than a goal processing time of "6 months by the end of 2023". We've got people writing physical letters, emailing, a text campaign, a website, and social media accounts.
