well, sign on the wall said - by appointment only, but securiry gentleman was ok with it (he has shaved bold head, cant remember his name on tag) and processed me as if i had appointment, which is

1) fill an easy 1 page form (dont forget to bring your SSN number)

2) get a waiting number

3) once you see your number on screen - go and get fingerprinted

whole thing took like 20 minutes.

Just redirected mail from USCIS to my phone mailbox, and will be checking status several times a day until something happens

last time after biometrics case was "touched" on second day, and now it hasn't been touched since Aug 24, when i changed my mailing address,

is there anybody else with "freexed" case?

I am so anxious about this delay,

everybody who had RFE even after me seem to have received their cards or approval e-mails

i have 2 scary theories

1) my RFE was never received in CSC or lost, even if i have signed proof of delivery

2) my fingerprints are undergoing some long FBI check,

i hate this waiting, i miss my mom, she is all alone back home, and i want to apply for citizenship to bring her here ASAP, and everyday US CIS seems to make it more and more far in future

ok, i finally went to my Info-pass, and officer over there was giving me hard time - telling me to get a translator, even if my English is good, and he's a second person complaining in whole 3 years

well fist of all when i came there he was talking to the younger officer next to him on some not work related topics, and laughing and i had to wait till he finishes for like 5 minutes,

then it took us 5 minutes to discuss why USCIS sent confirmation of Address Change to my new address but sends other mail to old address,

all i wanted to know, that there probably are 2 addresses on my file - Mailing and resident, so may be the mailing one didn't change.

he ended up saying "it was a mistake" - like this words should ultimately solve my problem and he has nothing more to do about it, but that's what i came for - i knew it was mistake and i came to fix this mistake, which he pretended to not realize. so i stopped asking about address.

then about my case - he was using terms and words like "adjudicated" (which i guessed meant something like "decided") and other terms, but just in case I asked him what those words meant, so he got all irritated repeating that i have to come back with a translator, like all this thousands of other people coming there every day are 100% native speakers and all have graduate degree in immigration law.

he could use simpler synonyms, i asked my husband later and he said he cant be sure what officer meant, and i looked in dictionary - all those words could be substituted for simpler ones.

too bad downtown had no parking anywhere near that building so my husband wasn't with me, driving around looking for parking if i ever go again i'll make sure we park and go inside together :(

after long irritated conversation in the end he said something like " Ma'am, your case was on hold due to RFE but was approved as of today"

i said "thank you" and walked away, but now when I calm down, and i dunno if i should believe him or not?

would he say this just to get rid of me? or is there a law that he cant say i am approved if i am not?

my advice to those who go to INFOPASS:

if you see that officer is in bad mood, dont ask many questions and start with more important ones - like case status,

if he askes why you came, dont tell all your concerns, just be short - "I CAME TO FIND OUT MY CASE STATUS", he will have to look it up anyway somewhere in your visit, so you dont have to additionally convince him.

then may be he tells you something after which you wont need any other questions.

never assume anybody in Govt cares about your problems, be prepared, be firm, word your questions short and clear, and don't let them fool you, follow through untill you get proper answer

we are legal immigrants, we don't take their personal money, we didn't kill Native people or invade the country, we pay taxes like everybody else, so we have rights to get normal service.

online status is same for a year now - that it's pending since Oct 12 2006, and last touch was Aug 24 when i changed my address.

i guess the only way to find out - is wait-wait-wait for physical mail, my estimate is 6-7 days since people here get their "approved" e-mails

hmm.... usually the case status changes before they send the card... I wonder where the officer supposedly saw that your case was approved... does he not have access to the very same information? I don't want to destroy your hopes, but if I had to guess I would say he just told you're approved to get rid of you.

Anyway, I keep my fingers crossed for you that you get your card soon. All the best!

thank you for fingers crossed :-) , i know it's supposed to update daily

but i saw recently on forum - somebody got paper approval letter - while online status didn't change and was still "pending"

and i did biometrics a months after Aug 24, and online case shows no touch, even if it usually does for other people - and it did for me too - after first biometrics in Aug 4, it was touched 3-4 times, like Aug 6, Aug 7, and last was Aug 13 when RFE was sent, but ever since address change - online updates are stuck even if they are working on my case since they sent me biometrics.

i was trying to explain this to officer, but he got all defensive and irritated even if i emphasized many times, that i was sure that it's an error somewhere in computer and i wasnt blaming him or anything like that.
