I was talking to a consulate in Manila and they do not allow the fiance in the room with the person being interviewed. This was relayed to me only two days ago... or on the 23rd of September!

Hmmmmmmm never heard of this stuff, the October interviewees should be notified if in case in their website, just like bringing cell phone in the USE is not allowed

Oh sorry, didn't see it right away.......but I think its false alarm hehe, I didn't see any reminders from USE Manila website, In fact some of my friends and their SO will be there on their interview this first week of October...

Hi all. Theres probably truth to this information because my friend told me she was alone in the Consul's room during her interview last Sept 13 and her fiance just waited outside. I didnt get into the details because well she passed. She is in the USA now and they will meet my fiance ( both are from FL and just one hour drive apart) tomorrow so I will ask about this.

As far as I know it has always been up to the embassy whether to allow the USC at the interview, guess they have decided that maybe it is a distraction.

My DCFs IR buddy's wife just had an interview Sept 5 and he attended the interview and was ask questions also.

I doubted very much if USEM discriminates between the different visas.

Who knows for sure tho.

USEM also says they normally don't allow co sponsors for K1s and they do "most" of the time naman.

I guess if they have changed their rules it will "come out in the wash" soon!

It depends with the consul i think because i had my interview on March of 2005 and my husband was with me. I was worried that they were not gonna let him in because most of the couples ahead us, the consul didn't let the petitioner in. But when it was my turn i went in with my fiance and our consul didn't have problem about it. He even ask my fiance questions too and sometimes when consul ask questions for me my husband answer it.hehehe . Just go in confidently and profesionally together then it shouldn't be a problem.

When we were there in February it was up to the individual Consular Officer. Ours let me in the room but did not speak to me.

I hope that it's true because the USCs don't really contribute much to interview anyway besides taking up space. The visa interview is about the beneficiary and not the USC. Besides, it's rare that the CO even addresses the USC beyond hello, how are you, and have a nice day. I say let the USCs wait in the lobby. I know that it's a huge relief to be accompanied by the petitioner (I get that). However, I have not read that the policy has changed, but it would not surprise me.

The USC is allowed to accompany the beneficiary for the AOS stages of the process (once the beneficiary arrives in the states).

I feel you.. Like SLEC rule..

They don't let anyone in other than the person that is going to have Medical..

I think they should do a trade rule.. Not allow petitioner or partner @ the Interview trade if for VISA Pick Up? How is that?

well even if they do its not that big of deal this is interview for your spouse. well take a look at cfo seminars they dont also usc into that they are made to wait out side for hours just be glad interview only takes few min. i dont have a problem waiting in the lobby area for my wife i will still be there for better or worse. if it goes good we will dance if it goes bad we will cry any ways good luck to all hope for the best

Our interview was last week, Jan 22nd, and I was asked at least half the questons in both the pre-screening and in the interview. I'm glad I was three as it made my wife much more comfortable with the process.
