Had my AOS interview minus my husband today. At Garden City. Case is just going to continue until my husband gets back from deployment. I was so horrified. First, because of this interview and secondly because my husband hadn't emailed in five(5) days, only to find out that his ship is on the way to Lebanon the night before. Can you just imagine my stress? Anyway that was how it went.

The lady asked me

-my husband's complete name

-date of birth

-SSN

-how long did we date before we got married

-how did we meet

-did I meet his parents

And that was it.

I'm so sorry you had to go through this alone and can't imagine why they would want you to come to an interview without your husband. My husband's AOS application was recently transferred over to CSC -- which means NO INTERVIEW -- and I don't know why they don't put service members at the top of the list for this streamlined process, especially since they are more likely to be deployed right now.

Thank you for your husband's service to his country. I'm sure he will be safe and hope he gets home soon. I grew up a Navy brat, still live in a Navy town (Norfolk area), and work for the Navy, so I have all kinds of appreciation for our sailors!

i'm glad to hear that your interview was relatively easy...but i wish they'd have gone ahead and approved you. i can only imagine what it must be like to be in a foreign country and have your spouse sent to a danger zone in the world. the sacrifice made by military families like yourselves is unbelievable. thank you so much for our freedom!

we complain a lot on this website about our government, because of our own personal frustrations with bureacracy...but America is a great place to live, and it's because of the sacrifices of soldiers who've gone before us.

i pray for a safe and speedy return for your husband.

Hi sexyagr, (F)

Congratulations on your approval. I am the person who responded and told you that you be approved without your husband. I wish you the very best and tell your husband when you speak to him, “that all of us in the United States support him and all our troops and thank them very much”.:yes::thumbs:

but I don't think she has been approved Peter, that's the thing.

I also think that military spouses of deployed personnel should be approved top of the pile, but these days they just treat you the same as any other civilian.

Hopefully sexyagr, you'll get a letter soon saying you're approved, and you'll get a call soon from your husband saying he's going crazy with all the refugees on his boat ;)

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

When I went to my infopass appointment I asked them if there was any way I could have my case sent to California because my husband is in the air force and will probably be deployed in September. The guy laughed at me and said he can't help me and we'd have to wait like everybody else.

I said we might be sent away from SC to another base and therefore having my case sent to Cali would really help as we wouldn't have to keep transferring the case (SC takes 1.5 yrs to process AOS). Once again he laughed and said "Why are you asking for an EAD card to start working if you think you will be leaving SC anyway".

I thought that was shocking - does he expect us military spouses not to work in case our husband's get moved to another base? I guess not everyone appreciates their military folk.
