When I do the timeline function (at the top of the page) for the K-1 and organize it according to NOA1 I see that there are several cases that have already received their NOA2s that are behind mine. I do take into account service center, many folks don't update their timelines and even the possibility that people accidentally input incorrect date information for the NOA1, but I'm still curious as to what's up. Anybody have an insight on this? I've read Huskerviev's thread, so I have an idea how the inside works. Just curious.

A common mistake in comparing timelines is to confuse the word "processing" with the word "approval". Processing begins in order but if your petition has a complication somewhere during the process of "processing", the service center is not going to make another petition wait for approval until yours catches up. Once your case first comes to the top of the pile, it will take its own course and timeline through the process. From the best I can tell, the vast majority of time between NOA1 and NOA2 is just sitting and waiting to get to the top of the pile that first time. The actual processing doesn't take long for most cases, once they start actually working them.

Ok, that makes sense. So, with that would it mean that cases that have been approved before me were perhaps less complicated or just in the hands of a faster worker? Because I am seeing several that are nearly a month behind me with NOA2, whilst I have no "last updated" touches (hence I would believe they haven't started working on my case).

Also, I know they say country doesn't matter but I'm feeling like I'm seeing quite a few Philippines cases already approved. Just being nit-picky...

I think it's also worth remembering the sheer scale of the job here - with literally thousands of files, and multiple adjudicators, working at different speeds and (as said above) each encountering different things that take more or less time to check with each case, it's just impossible for cases to get processed STRICTLY in the order they were received... I think they do a pretty good job of keeping it fair, but there's bound to be some small discrepancy, and I have no problem with that; it would probably take more time to keep them all in strict order than to just process them ;)

using VJ as a guide, the service centres seem to be processing petitions from a six week period at any given time, with a few laggers from earlier on... for example, it seems to be late June to early August just at present :)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

I wouldn't get hung up on touches. Many cases never see evidence of touches during the process. If your case is taking longer the first thing I'd ask is whether the names are really common. If so, it takes longer to complete the name checking.
