I am sorry to hear that your interview is cancelled. I hope the spot on your xray is negative. Did they tell you why it takes 2.5 months to release results? My father-in-law was diagnosed in about a week!!

^ I agree! is you xray results with you? why not show it to another radiologist and pulmonologist and get a second opinion. that way you can start on treatment if need be.

I'm sorry to hear that... Do you have a copy of your x-ray? or else just go to another radiologist and get another x-ray and go to doctor to check it so that you will know what is happening... You will know the reason why before SLEC will release your result..Don't worry God is always there just stay in your faith...God Bless!

Hello vonicks,

Be strong. I underwent the same situation as yours. Have second opinion, have your sputum tested on a private doctor, and have it cultured too = for your peace of mind. SLEC does not disclose any information, only general ones (like they found something on your CXR but doesn't tell what it is).

Sputum test for 3 consecutive days, On the 4th day you'll undergo Pulmo Evaluation. You can see your PDS in an orange folder. After Pulmo eval the nurse will ask for your contact number and will be told to wait 8 weeks for the result. You can secretly ask the nurse for the result of the Sputum. Do this secretly, the thin guy nurse will tell you the info, he is nice.

8 weeks will turn to 9 before they call you. And on the 10th week you'll have your interview.

Be strong. You are not alone. Your family here in VJ will always be here to help you.

Pm me anytime. I'll be glad to help.

We have Doc/Sis Helen here, She is the best VJ doctor who always help. (Thanks Ate Helen, missing you already).

Be strong and be patient. God has reason for everything.

jyz -> Thanks for the compliment!

Vonicks -> don't despair, this is just a precautioanry measures for applicants with suspicious findings on their Chest X-rays. Sputum AFB is done 3 consecutive days and you can already get the results after that. 2 out of 3 positive means you will have to be treated for PTB for a minimum of 6 months then a re-evaluation will be done before they can clear you to travel to the U.S. Sputum AFB culture however takes at least 3 weeks to grow since they are slow-growers, then that's the only time they can do the sensitivity test to know which drug the applicant will be susceptible. There are cases that a patient is healthy with no history of TB nor any history of contact with known TB case and they turn out to be Multi-Drug Resistant type and needs 5-7 medications to treat and at least a minimum of 1 year of treatment. Just keep a healthy lifestyle. No smoking or stay away from those who smoke, avoid stress as much as possible, (bawal mag-puyat), have at least 8 hours of sleep, drink lots of fluids (soft drinks/cola drinks do not count). And lastly, have a positive attitude in life. God Bless!

HELEN
