This whole thing reminds me a little of the Bucket lady in that loathsome BBC sitcom - Keeping Up Appearances.

"It's Boo-kay!, not Bucket!"

That reminds me of such a funny story....we were in Belfast and I wanted to go to this place called 'Boucher' First of all, I fig'd it was 'right around the corner' which it wasn't, and we wound up walking for ages until we were able to get a cab. But we kinda got lost. So I asked D to go ask someone where it was....it's funny cos I hated the attn when ppl would hear my accent & go on and on about America. Anyways, he's all 'fine, where are we going?' to which I say 'Bou-chay' <---that's how I fig'd it'd be pronounced.

It's really boucher. As in Ouch-er.

He comes back from asking these two girls, and he's like 1-First of all, thanks a lot cos I felt like a t!t cos it's bouch-er, and Secondly, I just got chatted up..

lolz.

from what i've read, biryani originated in persia. they eat something somewhat similar to that. someone correct me if i'm wrong.

This is one reason why I moved back to Queens from Manhattan - awesome Indian food here.
