my military background usually gets me dismissed as a juror anyways

I was on a jury in 05. Some guy wanted money for a neck injury. I and another juror were instrumental in getting the award amount down from half a mill (which is what my peers wanted at first) to around 10k.

None of us are on the jury....we're sat here giving AN OPINION based on what's being put forth. This whole time, you're throwing all sorts in the way, cos God forbid these kids actually be proven to do what is being reported. God forbid it was unjustified! It's that whole apologist bleeding heart justifying that just turns my stomach, cos God forbid I have an opinion here that's valid without you trying to yet again muddy the waters with nonsense.

INNOCENT TIL PROVEN GUILTY didn't stop you from trying to smear the victim, did it? It didn't stop you from NOT posting the facts that at the time of the arrest, NO ONE claimed anything about a knife or spitting, that the cops are looking into this as a hate crime, that there's surveillance footage...but instead, you post info speculating about the victim herself. All info found on the very same page, no less! Nice cherrypicking!

I have to wonder if it were the other way around, if the kids were white, and the victims were black, how you'd respond. Cos if you're going to throw the 'innocent til proven guilty' thing in my face, I will expect you in future to not express any opinion about any case/crime/etc about anyone who hasn't been convicted/acquitted yet.

Having these discussions, IMO, is engaging when we're all able to express our thought and opinions out in the open, to listen to other points of view, possibly seeing an issue differently than our original view. I don't buy into the outrage brigade mentality of, 'let's find an incident that we can all get outraged over.' That seems to be all that some people here look for. It's the Jerry Springer, talk show approach to issues. All surface and little or no substance.

I am the USC. And yes, I find I use certain slang wayyy too much. It's something that I've been working on for a while, in fact because obviously no one in my area knows what I'm talking about. It's not that I'm 'mimicking' anything or putting on airs...in fact, when living over there, I fought having any local slang creep in, because I find it to be disingenuous and pretentious (much like Madonna all of a sudden having an accent!)..But, after the first year, it just happened.
