As if 2 tragedies was not enough, a jury of her peers feels the need to inflict a 3rd. Morons.

It isn't a tragedy. It is justice.

I disagree. The death penalty is government-sponsored murder.

You see no difference between what she did, and what will be done to her because of it?

Word. Especially problematic seeing the number of wrongful convictions. The death penalty is somewhat irreversible when it's found out that the people offed the wrong candidate. Medieval practices.

There is no difference. The death penalty is nothing more than vengeance. It's blood for blood. It's medieval, primitive and beneath us.

I have no problem with it.
You are medievalevil.
I could teach 'em how to do it right . . . and real slooooooow.
I'm not against DP in Cole's case. Having seen her picture, I believe that the jury acted fairly--not even the possibility of a spurious (like 'Tookie' Williams in CA last year) claim of racism-motivation.

IMO, a 1"/hr dip in hot oleum (unfortunately, this is NOT a method actually used).

She is a monster. She cannot be integrated into society, and what society would want that piece of useless evil flesh lingering about. If she is kept alive in jail she costs money. One simple injection will sort out the problem. As for the others, pretty much the same would be fine.

PS This argument is completely irrelevant to me, but it costs us more to kill someone than keep them in prison for life, counter to what one would intuit. All the appeals and whatnot...

There's a difference between revenge and justice. The death penalty is revenge. And judging from crime statistics in the U.S., it certainly isn't a deterrent.

That's very true, but OMFG your signature, featuring the suave Jeff, made me fall off the couch laughing.

Thanks! I've been trying to feature a new album cover every week. This is one of my favorites.

I feel I should say one thing in defense of the existence of the death penalty: Muttering "Fry 'em all" repeatedly while doing a sort of modified huka dance has gotten me out of jury duty once or twice.
