I read somewhere that the number of filings increased from 1 million something in 2006 to well over 2 million in 2007. Does anyone know where this was reported? Can someone direct me to some more accurate numbers?

I was thinking that maybe there would be something on the USCIS website but haven't found anything thus far

I also read it on the USCIS website. Apparently filings have more than doubled. Does that mean we have to wait longer than previously told? I also understood that people who filed after June 2007 should expect to wait longer than the 6 months forcast. This is quite a depressing news as my fiance filed in July.

I read an article, I think it was a link from a post on VJ but I can not find it now....perhaps someone else will post a link for you.

The delay was down to several factor including the fee increase in July and there is a lot of controversy because of the upcoming election and new citizens being unable to register to vote. And I remember something about AOS cases taking 18 months....but I am unsure of the context....hopfully someone else can direct you to the article.

Other VJ members that also filed in July are just starting to get approvals over the last couple of weeks, it seems to be averaging about 130 days or so from the NOA1 date. If you have not found the July Filers post yet there is a link below. There is also a spreadsheet where they are keeping track of members progress thru USCIS, so you can see where you stand.

Found this on USCIS... here's part of it:

USCIS has received a significant increase in the number of applications filed. In July and August, nearly 2.5 million applications and petitions of all types were received. This compares to 1.2 million applications and petitions received in the same time period last year.

VSC has been issuing NOA2s for some July filers - within the 1st 2 weeks of July. Looks like VSC is finally picking up the pace and we should hear something soon! You can also check out the VSC thread in the K1 announcements forum. You'll find lots of support there too!
