Ok, I want to bring my wife back to scandinavia to live there, I am soon to file for removing of the conditions on my residency after 2 years of having the marriage based greencard. I do want the 10 year PR card too, and not just abandon the whole case, but we really want to get going and relocate too. Does this application require an interview at USCIS too?

Perhaps, there is no way of telling. Some couples are called for an interview on a random basis.

If you plan to leave the USA to live and work in another country for good, you will abandon her Greencard whether it be the 2 year conditional one or the 10 year Permanent one.... to maintain her status you have to maintain a residence here in the US, continue to file US taxes and actually live here in the US...

Only way for here to be able to live outside the US without risking her ability to return is to wait until she has become a citizen... or be prepared to have to start over from scratch if you were to decided to return to live in the US...

Well, she is a US citizen, I dont want to become more than a resident, cause there is no way in .... I will give up my citizenship, and I cant have dual citizenship. But thanks guys. I do appreciate the help I get here, it does clarify things a lot.

Sorry I misunderstood I thought it was you that was the USC.... I think the only option if you want to return to your home country to live is giving up your Greencard...

Good Luck in whatever you end up doing....

Just wanna say thanks for wishing us well Kez :) Yeah, my reasons for coming here in the first place was because my wife couldnt leave at the time, and soon she can. Ive had an interesting time living here and I do think I will miss aspects of it when we go, but I know we are better off in Norway. My reason for wanting to have the greencard is in case we want to return (who knows, she might not be happy in scandinavia), and it would make it a whole lot easier if I didnt have to go thru the same process to get a work permit and such.

Not to worry, if you decide down the road to return to the US, you should then qualify to process your case directly with the US Consulate in Oslo seeing that your USC spouse - as your petitioner - will then meet the residency requirement to file directly with the Consulate. No USCIS, yay.

Also, you may want to consider obtaining a re-entry permit prior to departing. That will tie you over for some time. Once you relocate, it might also be a good idea to pay a visit to the US Consulate in Oslo to see what it is you need to do should you just want to go to the US for a visit.

Best of Luck!

Thanks, you bring up a couple of valid things here. Yeah, I dealt with the US embassy prior to coming over on an Fiance Visa, and I think I pushed it thru in record speed, but I got some extremely good help from the embassy, where one lady really went out of her way (and I think somewhat beyond protocol) to help me out. I left Norway a couple of days after my embassy interview with a fresh visa in my passport :) I think my case spent about 3 or 4 days at the embassy before I left the country.....
