whats the difference between 1040 and W2, my co sponsor sent me just the 1040 and said she dosent have W2 with her so i just wanna know if thats gonna be ok to be sent for I-864 with her assets etc.

1040s are pretty much worthless without the W2s. If you have tax transcripts also it will fly tho if they show enuf income!

i didnt get the part about tax transcript...so yes i got her tax transcript with 1040's then it will work is that what you mean or its gonna fly like not gonna work?

If using a copy of a sponsor's IRS tax return, it will (should) include (copies of) the 1040 (EZ, or whichever was used) and any supporting documents (again, copies are OK to submit) such as W-2s, 1099, etc.

If using IRS transcripts (order-able from the IRS) all you need is the transcript (copy is OK) itself since by it's nature, it includes proof that the IRS received acceptable supporting documents.

Make sense? (Basically, the transcripts are best because you don't need to attach anything to them.)

(To answer your original question though, you would need copies of the sponsor's W-2s (or other supporting documents) to submit - I've read of some who have not included them and had no issues, but I don't think that is the norm.)

You can get tax transcripts from IRS automated service 24/7 for free.

Call 1800 829-1040!

Took me 7 days to get them.

I've seen where others took longer tho.

If you want them faster you can have then faxed.

Different trip getting them faxed. I'll see if I can find the site.

Try Google Internal Revenue Service tax transcripts faxed or something like that.

Can't get W-2s from the IRS, those come from employers. If you/your-sponsor absolutely doesn't have them, call/write the IRS and order transcripts.

my husband called the toll free irs number and asked for tax transcripts and w2's for the last three years! it was not a problem at all, free and just took 5 days for us to get them in the mail!

the w2's also have the 1099's on them.
