I'm completing my I-129F paperwork and when ask for the American Embassy or consulate on line 20 i'm unsure of my options. It appears Montreal and Vancouver are the only options. There is an American Consulate in Calgary which would serve in our case quite handy. Can anyone advise me as too this office being an option, that is the Calgary Consulate. I was inform any American consulate can handle any type of visa applications??Thank You

Only 2 consulates in Canada handle immigrant visas like K-1, Vancouver and Montreal, pick the one closest to where your fiancee lives, I believe Vancouver handles Alberta Province.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

No, it will go to where it needs to go, based on the address of the beneficiary. I put Toronto on our form, but Montreal received and is interviewing Kristy on Friday morning.

Immigration will forward the applications to the correct consulate. Vancouver handles K-1 and K-3 applications from residents living in Manitoba and west. Montreal handles K-1, and K-3s for residents living in Ontario and East. Montreal is also the only Consulate in Canada that handles CR-1 applications regardless of where you live. If you list the incorrect consulate, don't worry, they will send it to the one that has jurisdiction over your area. Now that you are on the way, be sure to stop in and visit the Canada regional forum as well - there are a lot of Canadians and their American partners who are taking the same visajourney as you are, and can provide a wealth of information and support.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

If you're in Calgary and filing for a K-1, Vancouver is an option for you. It seems to be way quicker than Montreal. Good luck!
