Hi All,

My wife is pregnant (I've mentioned this in previous posts) and we JUST started the CR-1 process. I got MY return receipt saying the I-130 package was delivered on Oct 24th. I still haven't received anything from the USCIS... I don't think it is likely that we will have her visa in hand by Feb 11th (the last day she can fly)....

I've been doing a LOT of thinking about my situation.... I think I need to move to Japan for the birth of my baby (~2 months April/May). I can't afford to keep my place here, plus I will need all my mail to be forwarded to Japan. So, how will this affect the visa process? Will they even allow the process to continue if I don't have a U.S. address? BTW, I can keep my job (work remotely), so that is not an issue... I just won't have a U.S. address for two months...

Thanks!

Perhaps you have someone nearby your current address (friend or relative) and you can use their address for your mail, since it is a temporary move.

I had mail forwarded from the U.S. to Canada and at random times, the Canadian Post Office returned the mail to the U.S. who in turn would resend it. All it caused was a complete delay in me receiving my mail.

Do they allow P.O. Boxes? I could get one and have a friend check it... Not so sure about using a friends address, might that raise a red-flag?

Thanks!

You can change your address online with the USCIS. I didn't read the entire instructions, but I did not see anything about PO Boxes not being accepted.

If you do chose to have someone get your mail in your absence, be sure it is someone you trust enough to open items and contact you if it is urgent and be willing to express mail it to you in Japan.
