When do you get your "green card"?

Here's my situation. On my wife's DS-230 we selected the option to be issued a SS card. Well, we went to the states back in February. It's now 2 months later and she has received absolutely nothing yet. She was chatting with her friend who entered the US 3 1/2 weeks ago and has already gotten her green card in the mail. Who can I contact about not receiveing the green card or SS# yet?

If you did receive a welcome letter, you can check your status at the uscis online with your noa receipt number. I have checked my status online and it says that they already ordered the card and will be mailed as soon as it is ready.

With regards to my ss#, three weeks without receiving an ss#, my husband and I went to the local ssa to get a number. You will fill up a form there, your passport with the stamp is enough requirement to show them.

So what do you do if you DCF? I never had an NOA # so don't know how to check anything :crying:

I'm getting so frustrated! Anyhow...........

I found this information on the USCIS website regarding the wait time for green cards. It says that if you have entered the United States more than 60 days ago, on an immigrant visa and have not received your first permanant resident card call 1800-375-5283. Hope this helps.

Congrats on that, and on your Green Card!

I'm just petty enough to notice that this SS card *must* be a result of your DS-230 application; there's no way in heaven that SSA got you a card from your application 3 days previous, is there?

Anyway, look for posts from mdyoung if you get a second SS card.

No, I don't need a second ss card, as the ss card that I received is the real ss card and it is not from the ds230 that I signed. I went to the ssa in person to get a number and they sent me the real one.
