G325a Signatures and Native Alphabet lines

I read on another forum and thought it would be good to cover again here.

The G325a form has a place for a signature and another place for the person to write their name in native characters, if their native alphabet is not Roman Characters.

So for instance a Chinese person gives a signature and also writes, or actually could type their name in Chinese Characters. How to get the native characters in the space is pretty straight forward but I saw all kinds of wrong answers about the signature.

A signature is a signature. It doesn't need to change because they are filling out an immigration document. Signatures need not even be legible but I think it's a good idea to make them so on official documents.

The point is, the signature and the native character name can be the same or different. On my wife's G325a's for the visa, she signed in Chinese Characters and wrote the identical characters as name in native alphabet.

For AOS, she used the Roman character signature she now uses in the US on checks and credit card purchases.

A signature is just that, a signature. Writing name in native characters is not a signature. It can be done by anybody or typed where possible. It's two separate questions on the form. The answers can be the same or different, as appropriate.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
