It's a bit strange. It's a Permanent Resident card, and I've been approved and welcomed to the US. But what I don't understand is I paid $180 for EAD whilst my Green Card is pending - only to receive my Green Card before the EAD?? Also, I didn't have an interview for AoS. I had my biometrics taken in July and didn't really hear much since. Got a lot of status emails from USCIS, and then my AP, followed by my Green Card.

So-

Why was I not interviewed? (Not that I'm complaining, really..)

Do I still have to apply to lift the conditions even though it says 'Permanent Resident' on my card? How do I do this?

When do I get that stamp in my passport?

Just a bit confused.. Thanks.

Congratulations! I'd be dancing like a fool for joy if I were you.

In one way yes it does suck that you ended up wasting money for the EAD and AP because your GC arrived soon after they were approved, but the fact that you only had to wait less than 3 months for the whole AOS process far outweighs that inconvenience as far as I'm concerned.

You must have been transferred to CSC if you were approved without an interview. Your USCIS online status should have let you know when that occured. Why you didn't have an interview is really a big mystery to everyone. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to who gets interviews and who doesn't. But consider yourself lucky that you didn't have to worry about having an interview.

With a 2 year conditional GC, you have to start the lifting of conditions in 1 year and 9 months.

The stamp in your passport is sometimes given at the interview if they are approved as a temporary kind of GC until the actual one arrives in the mail. Since you didn't have an interview, you won't get a stamp (and sometimes at the interview they still don't give you the stamp).

Again, Congratulations on a very speedy AOS approval!

Yes this not uncommon and is posted quite often here on VJ. If the case is sent from MSC to CSC this usually results in approval without interview. I was seeing many people getting green card before EAD so we held off filing for the EAD, and had no plans on traveling soon so did not do AP either.

Anyway congrats on the swift approval.

Congratulations  Claudeth received her GC about two months after her EAD so it was kind of a waste of money. Guess it doesn't matter for those filing now.

Look at the expiration date on your card, you will need to file the I-751 about 90 days before the card expires.
