Hello...again. I want to know if anyone out there know what the poverty guidelines are for a K-1 visa in submitting the affidavit of support. Did anyone send any asset info for their fiance interviews just in case? I am concerned on whether or not I qualify. I am boggled.

Here is the link to the 2007 Poverty Guidelines. If you meet the requirements on income alone you don't need to include information on assets.

Ok, so the poverty guidelines is 17,112 for a household of two. Here's a dumbo question... Does the household of two mean for me and my fiance. I thought it meant for me and someone who is already living with me such as a child.

Secondly, do they look at the w2's and add up the years. Let's say for instance 2004 tax was 10,000, 2005 was say 12,000, and 2006 was 14,000. Do they add those numbers up in order to get a total to meet the poverty guideline of the household of two or do they use the one for just 2006? Also, do they use the pay stubs to add up with the 2006 tax income to meet the poverty guideline. Call me a perfectionist but, I just want to be in the clear here. I'm trying my best to avoid a let down.

I don't know, but I believe I've read that they look at the current year. I would post this in the K1 forum and you should get the answer. I've seen this discussed before

I belive that when they are looking at each year they are looking for consistency....They want to make sure that you meet the the poverty line for each year.....To be sure you are able to support him while he is here and will not need any Gov. assit. Also looking to see if you are stable in your income.......

The household number includes you, anyone else you support and your fiance.

The income requirement is per year, it is not cummulative.

I always think that it's better to have more than you think you'll need than to get there and not have what they ask for. We haven't been to the interview yet, but I plan on sending tax returns with W-2's for the past three years and AT LEAST 6 months worth of pay stubs and bank statements (from EVERY ACCOUNT) and IRA statements, along with a letter from my employer and the title to my car.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!
