My first attempt to bake an apple pie and the fact that I don't have any clues about baking, the result is good..success! Gary loves it!! He have 2 slices right away! He have some on his work for snack also!

And I am baking some more now.

Just happy to know and see that hubby like it and he appreciates those kind of stuff I do for him and as a wife I feel great and fulfilled with that. :luv: :luv:

WANT SOME? :P:D

Ate, it's "mouth-watering", can I have some???

:devil::P

Here's the recipe Nessa..try ..Charles might like it and care to eat your pie.:D

Filling

6 medium-sized apples, sliced thinly

1 1/2 cups sugar

2 tbs flour

1/4 cup water

3 tablespoon butter

1 teaspoon cinnamon

CRUST

2 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon sugar

1/2 cup butter

1/4 cup shortening

5-6 tablespoon water

Egg wash

Preheat oven to 375 F. Prepare one 9- inch pie plate.

Prepare Filling: Put apples and sugar in a saucepan. Cook until syrupy. Dissolve flour in a water then add to apples together with the rest of the ingredients. Cook until thick. Cool.

Prepare Crust:In a bowl, sift together flour, sugar and salt.Cut in butter and shortening. Add enough water to form a ball of dough. Divide dough into 2, one slightly larger than the other. Roll out bigger dough to 1/8-inch thick.Fit into the pie plate. Pour in apple filling.Set aside. Roll out remaining dough large enough to cover the pie. Seal top crust to bottom crust by pinching. Flute edges decoratively. ####### top crust with a fork to allow steam to escape. Brush with eggwash. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.Cool.

Enjoy Nessa! :)(F)

Perhaps if your hubby ate less pie he'd wouldn't have to have that beard to hide the fact that has more than one chin. A beard is not replacement for a jawline. One piece of pie in future I think.

Yeah, we'll have no more of those sorts of comments thank you.

Back on topic now...did someone mention apple pie? ;)

She outdid herself with this last one. Very good!! Next I buy some peaches! MMMMMMM!!!!!

But what about the rhubarb?

Because the frozen stuff just "ok" but there is nothing better than real fresh home made apple pie. No preserves no extra stuff. Imagine just real fresh warm apple goodness, baked to perfection and covered with a perfect a golden crust. That and you can also tweek the recipe when it calls for lots of sugar and use "Splenda" to save your self some calories. You can get the same great taste with half the calories.

I baked an apple pie this week too. I just gulfed a piece righ before bed IM so BAD!!! Next will be mexican pineapple empanadas (turnovers). I have started making the pineapple preserves today! =0)

That sounds good!!

Care to share of your empanadas recipe? I would like to give it a try.. :)

Sure thing here you go,

Makes 6 servings

17 min cook 5 min prep

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup butter or margarine

4 ounces cream cheese

1 (8 ounce) jar pineapple preserves, well drained

1/4 cup powdered sugar, for sprinkling on top (optional)

1.Mix all ingredients except preserves.

2.Knead into dough, roll out and cut with biscuit cutter, making a round circle. I use the lid of any small round container. I just press the small round lind into the rolled out dough it gives me a perfect round circle.

3.Place a teaspoon of preserves in each cut shape.

4.Fold and crimp edges together with fork.

5.Bake on a cookie sheet at 350 degrees F until light golden, about 12 minutes.

5. After baking, roll in confectioners' sugar or sprinke on top (optional)

*If you cant find pineapple jam or pineapple preserves in ur local grocery heres my home recipe too. Its super easy

30 min cook time 15 min prep

20 ounces crushed pineapple in juice

2 cups granulated sugar

1 table spoon of corn strach

Bring pineapple and sugar to a boil in a large saucepan and cook 20 minutes. Add table spoon of corn starch stirring constantly until thickened or until the temperature reaches 200 degrees- jelly stage- on a thermometer.

Pour immediately into hot sterilized jars and process in a water-bath canner for 5 minutes. Place jars on a clean towel. Cover with towel to prevent drafts and let cool for 24 hours.

If you want to use this right away in the turnovers make sure you DRAIN the preserves really well because you dont want it to be runny or it will make the dough too soft and hard to manage.

Enjoy =0)
