Questions on filling out I-129F and G-325ASorry< I 'm new to all of this but I have a couple of questions with regard to filling out the above forms. My fianc'e is from Ukraine and has limited use of English. Should I fill out the forms in English and send them to her and have her just sign them or have her complete everything in Ukrainian and have them translated here? Also, regarding the translations, can I just use the example form given here at VisaJourney and have the translations done by one of my Ukrainian immigrant friends who speak and read English ( I live in a community with a very large Ukrainian population) or do I have to have some sort of 'official' translation done by a lawyer's office? Can my fianc'e just sign an English language letter of intent to marry or must she submit it in Ukrainian and have me get it translated? I also am not sure how to proceed with the following- my fianc'e is offically divorced but her internal passport as well as her international passport are in her former married name. I have a copy of her divorce papers but nowhere on it does it seem to re-establish her maiden name. She has told me that she must use her married name because all of her official documents list her married name. So, when she signs her forms, she is not sure which name to use. Any help on this one???

DWOZ,

Advice is worth what you pay for it. But the great thing about VJ is that it is a journey of experiences you can learn from.

1. Find a member of VJ whose spouse or finacee is from the same city in the Ukraine. The new relationship is invaluable during this journey and can last a lifetime.

2. The is a section on the G-325 that must be filled out in the native language of your fiancee and she must also sign thee document. Have her download the document fill out the two requirement and then send to you via UPS. It will cost about $50 to get overnight(actually 4 day) service. Best may to move money is Western Union or through your bank to hers. But being from the Ukraine she may not have a bank and needs to go open an account. Tell her to pick a big bank. Two banks listed on the Embassy page are good and make business simple.

3. On the documents you have two choices. The Ukraine has a certificate of name change after a divorce. If you change her documents now you will change them again later when you are married. So change them later. Many women keep their married names after divorce in all countries. Or you change all the documents now and change them later.

4. Your translator should be certified to translate. It is best to find one in your fiancees community rather than in the US. You will says A LOT of money!

5. What city is your fiancee from? Maybe I can refer you to a member here.

1) Should I fill out the forms in English and send them to her and have her just sign them or have her complete everything in Ukrainian and have them translated here?

I have a copy of her divorce papers but nowhere on it does it seem to re-establish her maiden name. 5) So, when she signs her forms, she is not sure which name to use. Any help on this one???

1) Yes you can prepare and have her sign... no need to do it in Ukrainian and translate.

2) Yes you can have anyone translates who is qualified to sign the certification statement... No need to use lawyer or translation bureau if you do not want

3) It is OK to prepare in English and have her sign it if you want

4) Maybe she did not re-establish her legal name to her maiden name after her divorce....

5) Her LEGAL name

YMMV
