Emergency AP

We can still get an emergency Ap right? even though we didn't file for a normal one? I assume we would pay the $170? My husband's grandmother passed away and he was so close to her. All the information I've seen so far has been about people who already filed for AP--and there is no good info on USCIS website--please advise anyone!

I'm sorry about your husband's grandmother.

Yes, you can apply for emergency AP. Make an info pass appointment and be prepared to pay the fee and show proof that this emergency travel is necessary. They could be tough on you.

Thanks! I just made an infopass appointment. Would be a shame if they refused someone to go to a funeral.

Very sorry for your loss.

Good Luck, and I hope they are able to issue you the Emergency AP. Bring passport sized pictures, 2-4 identical ones and as others have said the proof of emergency. Be calm and polite and I would think that it would be okay. The passport pictures seemed important as they need your pictures to put on the AP form. I think having these immediately to hand made their job and ours much easier.

Also consider getting a money order for the fee, although we didnt have to pay for it there as we had already paid for it as part of our AOS package, I overheard one of the officers tell someone else that they could not accept personal checks there. Now, that might just be my local office, but it is something worth thinking about.
