I had emailed the New Delhi Embassy to find out about taking original documents to the interview or including in VFS package. In part of their reply they state they say that we have to include an original for my date of birth. I think this was a mistake and they meant that she should include her original birth certificate in the package and take a copy if she wants the original back. I have not heard of an ORIGINAL document showing the U.S. Citizen's date of birth being in the packet 4....does this make sense to anyone?

I have been getting mixed messages from the consulate by emails and when my wife goes up to the counter. I am not sure what is the real deal. And we are closing in on the last week of the month, and they still have not updated the September interviews.

You are correct. No need for you birth certificate unless you are using it as a proof for your citizenship. September dates should be updated this week sometime.

I provided my original birth certificate to my fiancee. They did not take the original at VFS, they took the copy (i had a color photocopy of front and back) and they took the full copy of my passport (color photocopy of each and every page of the passport, including the cover).

these were required for the i-134 in my case.

I sent a copy of my birth certificate to my fiance in India, they took the copy at VFS but no one asked for the original.
