An NOA1 Question

I noticed that on some members' timeline they indicated that they knew NOA1 even before the check was cashed or the hard copy was received. How is this possible?

Ex:

05/17/07 --- NOA1

05/19/07 --- touch

05/21/07 --- check cashed

05/23/07 --- NOA1 hard copy received

I think you are misinterpreting what you are reading. NOA1 has a date. That date is independant of any petitioner knowledge. What you see is listed in date order, not order of knowledge.

I suspect the order of knowledge is pretty much reversed. There's no way to know whether the hard copy was received first or they noticed first that their check was cashed. Once the case number was available, they could see the "touch" online and the NOA1 date was clearly indicated on the hard copy.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

The NOA1 date listed is the date printed on the NOA1 letter, and it can be before check cashed, it is the date USCIS officially received the petition and logged it into their system.
