Better file for I-485 while I-130 is Pending, or wait till Approved? Does applying make I-130 process faster?

I am the son of a permanent resident. We applied for I-130 in 08Jan2024 under F2A category. It is still pending and I am in the USA on a student visa. When I first filed, we chose consular processing, but now I want to adjust status since the PD is now current for F2A. It seems like the I-130 is taking a while to process. Since I know many people like my situation applied later than me and got approved.

Would it be better if I apply for adjustment of status now? or should I wait till the I-130 is approved? and would it make the processing of I-130 faster? How else can I expedite the process knowing that I am a researcher and I need Green Card to enter some fellowship programs that F-1 students cannot enter.

Completely up to you since I assume you are still here legally on your student visa.  It may or may not result in movement on the I130 as there are many factors in that.
