Hi everyone. We got approved 2 weeks ago and our case was sent to the NVC.

Does anyone know how long it will take to hear back from the NVC?

Also, I'm moving with my son so I want to file for a K2 as soon as I file for a K1. How do I do this? All I can find online is "fill out 2 separate DS-160 forms". Is that all? How will they know our cases are linked then? I'm so nervous to do something wrong and my son can't come with it, so any information on this is very much appreciated!

I have custody so I'm allowed to move with him. I'm going for an interview in a different country then where we live (the US Embassy in our country is not doing K1's anymore), and I'm going to bring a piece of paper in my language saying I've got custody. It's not an official paper though, it's just an extract that I did get translated in English too. Is this good enough or does it need to be notarized or have an Apostille? I've been in touch with court here and they same it's not common for them to do that.

Thanks for the info! :)

They will know about both cases being connected because their is only one underlying petition and your son is listed on the petition.  You'll get instructions by email from the Consulate.  Follow those.

Thanks. So I should wait filling out the DS-160 forms until I hear from the consulate, not when I already have my case number from the NVC?

If you can fill them out, go ahead, but you won't be able to schedule an interview until the Consulate informs you they are ready.
