I need to move date that was assigned to me for an interview at the UK embassy. Looking online, I found instructions suggesting there would be some way to do this through the online portal where you register your appointment. However, I didn't see any option on the website, and upon contacting technical support they said I should miss the interview date and only then would I be able to reschedule. I guess I don't have a reason not to believe this instruction, but it seems very odd that they wouldn't want to know if someone wasn't able to attend. And it makes me very nervous to just be a no-show without prior warning.

Has anyone else applying for an immigrant visa in the UK had to reschedule and had this experience?

Unless it is truly dire circumstances, I would NOT try to reschedule your embassy interview. You could face months of delay and uncertainty.
