Hello VisaJourney friends!

I’m in a situation where I already have an idea of what to do, but I’d love to hear your thoughts as well.

Here’s the background: When I started my immigration process, I created a USCIS account that I used for all my applications (I-485, I-130, I-765, etc.).

For my most recent application, the I-751, I had to mail it in because there was no online submission option. Even though I included the USCIS account number I already had, they ended up creating a new USCIS account where this I-751 was placed (it’s still pending).

Now, I want to apply for my N-400, which I can do online. So, I thought about using this second USCIS account where my pending I-751 is located.

Here’s the issue: On my I-751, I accidentally entered my date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY format instead of MM/DD/YYYY. The mistake was caught and corrected during biometrics (back in January), so I completely forgot about it. However, when I started filling out the N-400 online form, it wouldn’t let me continue because the DOB I entered doesn’t match the one in my account. Apparently, the correction made during biometrics hasn’t been reflected in my (second) USCIS account yet.

Has anyone faced something similar? What would you suggest I do in this case?

Thank you in advance!

You can try using account #1 or create account #3

Hmm, I hadn’t thought about creating account #3 — thank you for the suggestion!

My husband suggested I call USCIS and ask them to merge both accounts and make sure the DOB issue is fixed. However, since I’ve already had experience calling USCIS and know how unhelpful they can be, I’m not expecting any magic to happen.

I also considered applying online using account #1, as you mentioned. My only concern is that this might create some confusion since I have a pending I-751 in another (more recent) account with a DOB issue.

Another option would be applying by uploading the PDF or by mail using account #2. In this case, I wouldn’t be blocked from entering the correct DOB. Maybe I could include a short note explaining that I’m aware I entered the wrong date on my I-751, and that it was already corrected during my biometrics appointment.

What do you think about this last option?

Thanks again in advance!

I don't think you filed I-485 online. Even today, this is not available.

When I said “I created a USCIS account that I used for all my applications (I-485, I-130, I-765, etc.),” I didn’t mean that I filed all of them online — I meant that I used the same USCIS account number for all of them. Some of those applications were submitted online, and others were mailed in.

You can have many accounts but you only have one alien number, which you would use in N-400 form. You can always upload copy of I-751 receipt in additional evidence.

Makes sense, thank you for clarifying.
