Hello everyone,

I'm having a bit of difficulty finding this information and unfortunately my inquiries to the consulate have told me to read through the K1 Visa Navigator (they don't address my direct concerns)

They've very recently changed the cover-sheet provided for the K1 Visa per-interview packet thing and anyone navigating around this with success I'd greatly appreciate input from.

1. Do I need to mail them my original birth certificate through the mail? Given its asked to bring it on the day of interview on the state site I'm a bit confused.

2. They don't have a section for the Medical Exam booking confirmation only the packet. And again they state to bring it on day of interview but also send it in the mail to even get an interview?

3. The Re-validation letter they ask for a copy of in the mail, but I don't see anything about the original should I bring the original on day of interview when I receive one?

4. With the passport photo mailed in do I just leave that floating in the envelope or should it be paper-clipped to a blank piece of paper?

I am sure I'm overthinking aspects of this, but I'd appreciate any clarification or help. I'm nervous to get this right, I don't want to mess up and not get an interview!

If you filled in your timeline then people would know the country you are interviewing at and could advise.

I apologise as I posted it under the Australian and New Zealand section I thought that would be enough to advise on location

Hi! I went through this process awhile ago so I didn't have that cover sheet but I'll try to help from my experience.

1. I took my original birth certificate to the interview. I sent a color copy through the mail. (If they really need your original birth certificate through the mail I think they'll RFE it)

2. They take your packet apart and reorganize it so put the Medical Exam booking confirmation where you think it fits best. And bring it on the date of the interview too!

3. Definitely bring the revalidation letter to the interview! So many people didn't have it when I did my interview when they asked for it

4. I put my passport photos in a small clear plastic bag and clipped it to the forms. But you can just clip it to a blank sheet of paper too!

My advice is to just do your best and believe that if they need anything extra, they'll request it!

Hi! Unfortunately they’ve updated their coversheet/requirements as of about two days ago. I had gone through the K1 Visa google sheet directive thing when we first received the email just to gather an idea of exactly what I needed.

Theyre now requesting original documents and copies of everything. They don’t even have a section for medical confirmation now! I think I attached the new coversheet?

I was just hopeful someone had an idea. I’m a bit nervous as they state incomplete packages won’t receive an email.

Hopefully someone who went through the process more recently can help!  You can also e-mail SydneyVisas@state.gov to get clarification directly from the consulate. Good luck!

Also I noticed that it says 'Incomplete applications will not be scheduled for an interview.' but not that incomplete applications will not receive an RFE. If the consulate is unsatisfied with what you sent in the packet, they'll request more information.

Thank you for that bit of reassurance, it helps put me a little bit more at ease. I hope you have a lovely day

You are overthinking it! But that's good. It's better to be over prepared than not prepared enough!

Birth certificate: send a copy and bring ALL original documents you sent copies of to the interview. They probably won't even ask for them, but better safe than sorry.

Only send what they ask. If they don't ask for the booking confirmation, don't send it in but take it with you to the interview. If they ask a copy of something, send a copy and bring the original.

Also, make a copy of the entire file you send in (with exception of the medical file, do NOT open that!) and bring that with you as well. Also bring all proof of relationship with you to the interview. They didn't ask for any of the stuff I brought to the interview, but I was glad I had it all with me just in case. They also like to see people who are organized and prepared.

When is your interview? Good luck!

My spouse also just received the email and is going through this coversheet step. Although it's for a DV Visa it seems to be a similar process. It's asking to mail originals of marriage/divorce/birth and education certificates, as well as an additional copy.

We are also very confused about having to mail the originals. Is that what you all did too?

Just received a reply back from the consulate and they said “You must provide all original and copies of documents as listed.

Refer to the document cover sheet for a list of the documents required.”

It then also states the only thing required on day of the interview is my passport.

Thanks. Did you also receive more than 1 coversheets? If so, do you know what the extras are for? I have two sheets for Dv Visa. One is labeled coversheet 1, and the other one is coversheets 2-3.

Sorry I have no idea on that one, K1 only has the singular coversheet.
Do they have any instructions alongside it? K1 Has a google form that instructs what you need and where to send it.

If not you can potentially either call the help centre they might have basic information. If not they can escalate the question to the consulate directly.

Or go through the google form linked in the consulate to email them directly, it has a subject line you can’t delete, etc.
