You can, but remember that you officially become a permanent resident of the US at time of endorsement.  This will impact income taxes and potentially have impacts on Canadian social benefits.  It's best to consult with a well versed cross border accountant.

If you think you'll clear up your affairs before the expiration of your visa, then plan to tie up loose ends and make the move before that expiration.  No need to endorse just because.

Given Trump’s unpredictable sudden bans and his attempts to shut down any immigration pathways to the US, I would feel calmer if I enter the US, get the stamp, and then return to finish my affairs.

What social benefits do you mean exactly? The only thing that concerns me is making sure I keep my public health insurance OHIP since I live in Ontario.

Also, I do not have permanent residence in Canada. I live and work here based on a work permit. I hope that activating my US visa will not affect my status in Canada in any way. I plan to continue working for my employer for another two months and only then move.

I believe my status in Canada should not be refused because I obtained status in the US, given that I am renting an apartment and working in Canada. What are your thoughts on this?

Hi everyone, does this seem accurate? I am trying to understand the process. I have sent in my documents and waiting to be DQ'd.

Possibly, but too early to say. It's just jumped forward hugely (used to be well over a year's wait for an interview). Until the next lot of people start getting their IL's, nobody can confirm if it's accurate or not really.
