Hi Guys,

I saw recent news about the new health regulations.

My spouse has Diabetes; controlled with medicines, will there be an issue for him or our case overall? In that case there will be a huge financial, emotional and time loss for us.

Please advise!

If I enter the US to activate my visa and then return to Canada for about two months to finish things there, the green card will later arrive at the US address I provided. At that point, I cannot enter the US using the activated visa anymore because my green card has been issued. But since the card will be delivered to the US address, I will not have it in hand. What should I do in that case? Should the person who receives the green card in the US mail it to me in Canada? How do people usually handle this situation?

Make sure to consult your accountant before doing this.  The minute you activate that visa, you become a permanent resident of the US and are responsible for taxes in both countries.  Additionally, if you own and sell a property, you may be subject to capital gains taxes from the US side.  Same goes on TFSA.  There's a good number of intricacies that must be considered.

If you plan to move in 2 months and the visa is still good in 2 months (typically they are good for 6 months from the date of the medical or 6 months from the date of issuance, whichever came first), activate it when you ACTUALLY plan to move.

Montreal IR-1/CR-1 Visa spreadsheet: follow directions at top of page for data to be added

The data on the website is always a bit behind. Last month it showed July, but starting from the 20s of October they were already sending out invitations to people with DQ August. So it is very likely that when this month’s invitations go out after the 20th, you will receive your IL.
If that happens, please let me know. My DQ is October, and I’d like to know if they begin calling September
