Medical exam in India without interview appointment letter

Sorry, posted in wrong forum. The petitioner is a USC.

 

Helping with the green card for my father-in- law in India. I understand that form I 693 must be filed with form I 485, so I assume there would not be an interview appointment set until I 485 is approved. Max Med Centre in New Delhi said they would not schedule the exam for I 693 without an interview appointment letter. Does anyone have experience with how this works? Thanks.

If he's consular processing, there is no I-485 to file. And there is no I-693, it would be DS-3025 for immigrant visa.

As @OldUser said above, you're looking at the wrong process if he's in India. You need to follow the step by step instructions here - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition.html

 

Not sure which step you're at, has the I-130 been approved?

Thank you and I am sorry for the confusion on my part. Should be okay now. No we are waiting for I 130 which we know takes a very long time. Just making sure we understand the process to avoid errors. Thanks again.

Ah, ok. So once you’ve got the I-130 approval, follow the steps from 2 onwards on the link above. 
 

Forget the medical until close to the interview - the visa will only be valid for 6 months from the date of the medical, so you need to wait for that.
