Hi, my wife just got DQ'd! But a few questions:

  1. Because I (the original sponsor & petitioner) already submitted an i864 pre-DQ, is my joint sponsor limited to filling out another i864 form? Or can the joint sponsor, my mother, who is under the same household as I am, fill out the i864a?

  2. If my mother fill out the i864a, does that mean I need to adjust some information under my original i864 (ie. add my mother's name into the original form)? Or is that unnecessary at this point, post DQ?

  3. Because mom barely understands English, I'm able to fill out most of the form on her behalf, right? She just needs to sign it and provide evidence of her financial situation?

1.  Yes, she can fill out the I864A.

2.  I do not believe you need to update your own I864.

3.  This one is a little trickier, make sure you fill out the parts at the end regarding the interpreter, and preparer sections.  You may consider finding an impartial interpreter just to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest on your part.

Good Luck!
