Wives and children only come into the equation when the PD is current

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

thanks again for your answer.

"2. Your parents can only petition you. Your child and spouse will be derivatives on your application."

So if do the math, 1 application will be submitted for myself only, and cost is around $675. This fee will also cover my wife and child, correct?

And if both parents submit it separately, the total cost will be 675x2=$1,350.

Thanks.

That’s the petition cost if you file by paper, yes. It would be cheaper to file online. Then there will be other fees when you get to the visa stage, but that’s a long way off, and it will depend on how many of you apply for visas when the time comes (your child may age out, depending on how old s/he is now).

Ok. He’s likely to age out unfortunately, you need to hope the I-130 takes as long as possible for CPSA calculations - that’ll be another advantage to both parents filing for you, in case one takes much longer than the other.

Do submit them asap!
