@appleblossom:-
Thank you. not sure how to reply back to your post but yeah, I am here in US. I have been a naturlized citizen for a while now (my oath ceremony was in June 2014).  I used IV Scheduling Status Tool website and found this for Bangladesh embassy. Does this mean they are currently working on date of April 2021? That means my niece will not get interview for another 3+ years. her case was marked as documentarily complete as of 29-Oct-2024.

If yes then this is going to be depressing for them and my worry is that my mother's health is deteriorating day by day. Do you think if we make an appt to the see congressman based on her health? she can't travel much and uses a wheelchair already. there is no way she can fly back to visit them.

If it says April 2021, then yes, they have a long wait ahead of them still.

A congressman can't help you jump the line. You can try for an expedite, but usually only 'life or death' reasons will count I'm afraid. Worth applying just in case though, you never know. Does she have other issues that means she can't travel? If so, use those, not the wheelchair as plenty of wheelchair users fly with no issues (my father was one of them). And I assume they've tried for B visas to visit her but been declined?

Thanks. She is very weak, she has misc health issues which prevents her from even visiting my house (I live 20min away). They have been here few times on travel visa but it's not always feasible for them to visit.

Have you petitioned them too as back up?

my other brother is the joint petitioner since my mom did not work.

I meant a separate petition. I know it's awful to think about, but as back up in case something happens to your mother between now and them getting the visa.

If they have B visas, then I can't see how an expedite would be granted as it's not like they're being kept apart from her. But they can ask, no hard in trying.

I understand. and we did have that discussion as well. but thank you for pointing it out. makes sense. So if i was to take that route, how would that work? meaning do i have to submit a new application to be a backup petitioner?

It's a whole new petition. Ideally somebody would have done it a long time ago so they would be a good way through the wait now, if you haven't then I guess you need to decide if it's worth paying the fees etc, given it'll be a 20+ year wait and hopefully they'll get a visa through your mother anyway.
