Yes, make an appointment at the ssn office. I've checked the ssn box in my application but nothing happened. After a couple of weeks after entering the US, I went to the ssn office and they couldn't find anything about my ssn case. So they started the process. After 2 weeks I went there again and even though the ssn card hasn't been produced yet, the number was already assigned. The lady in the office gave me the number "as an exception" and I was able to open bank accounts, get the drivers license and all the stuff. It's possible that your ssn number is already assinged, so yes, it's worth to go there and ask. Be friendly, humble and tell her that she has beautiful eyes 🙂
