Hello,

Our case was sent at to the NVC at the end of April, the 24th. It arrived in the middle of May, but we have not received a welcome letter.

I did do the AskNVC thing and we got our case number on the 19th of May, but we haven’t heard anything about a welcome letter or when we can schedule the interview.

I’m wondering if anybody near our dates is also waiting on their letter or if we are behind. If so, is there some step I missed that we’re supposed to complete before they send our letter?

Nothing really happens at NVC for a K-1 case.  They simply assign a case # (which you have), then forward the case to the consulate when requested by the consulate.   What is the CEAC status of your case?

It says At NVC. Others have told me this. Does that mean you don’t have to do anything while it’s at NVC aside from wait?

Is it the embassy that request the packet from NVC? I guess I just don’t understand why we haven’t heard anything yet.

“At NVC” means they have not shipped your file to the embassy yet. When they send it to the embassy, you will get an email with a K1-FTP letter attached stating it’s enroute to the embassy.

I am in the same situation.   I am the petitioner and my fiancé is in the Dominican Republic.  It took about 6 weeks for the NVC to send the case to the consulate.  I contacted the NVC through the public inquiry form to get my case number since they didn't send anything to me or my fiancé.  The NVC sent the case to the consulate, and I have a case status of "Ready" when I check the CEAC website, but I have not received anything in the mail yet.

Somewhere along the way I came across a post saying that you could update your email through the public inquiry form. We did that and got a notification yesterday through email that they sent our case to the embassy.

You may send them a note with your emails. Also, do you know about how long it took to get from case in transit to case ready?

How far out are the interviews scheduling?

I was notified that they sent the case to the embassy on 5/20/25 and they received it on 5/27/25.  We are still waiting on the interview appointment letter as of 7/10/25.  I called the embassy number in the US that I found on the Santo Domingo Embassy website on 6/23/25 and they told me that it can take weeks to months to get an interview appointment and that we just have to be patient and wait.

I saw on your timeline that you now have an interview appointment.  Did you do anything to expedite this process, we still have not received anything regarding scheduling an appointment and the embassy received out case on 5/27/25.
